Inspired by the rich history of Pier 38, Upstairs at Pier 38 is a place to gather that encompasses locally caught seafood, sourced by the renowned Honolulu Fish Auction, featuring USDA Prime Steak. Our Culinary Team adds their own creativity to the menu by collaborating with Chef Nico Chaize, to create island cuisine using rustic French techniques.

Experience our cozy lounge setting inspired by a “home away from home.” Smokey wood accents with high industrial ceilings, glowing lights, and a majestic copper bar will allow our guests to unwind with ease. Seating in the dining room is spacious and perfect for large parties or an intimate date night.

We are happy to offer a contemporary wine list with old-world treats, locally crafted beers, and captivating one-of-a-kind cocktails. Our team prefers reservations; however, walk-ins are always welcome!

    The bomb for our anniversary, waiters were very friendly always gave that excellent service will definitely be back for more 🤙✌️

    The Fliet Mignon and Lobster was top tier. Also the oysters were so good and fresh. Service was exceptional. All the staff was attentive and friendly.

    Service was poor compared to price paid. Appetizers got messed up, entrees got messed up, dessert got messed up. Every level of service was poor. Paid $500.00 each couple with tip. Expected ALOT more!! Pretty dissatisfied!!

    all around good quiet place with good service and food , a lot different from the downstairs Nicos , i liked it perfect early valentines date for my lady

    Entree special was excellent! Disappointed that chef couldnt accomadate my request of substituting starch on dish. Didnt see what the big deal was of switching it out. Also, ordered a lobster bisque to only find the tiniest pieces of lobster that was a total of 2 only. For a $20 cup of bisque, I’d want to see lobster swimming in my bisque. And when I brought it to the servers attention, all he said was “sorry”.

    We ordered the baked brie, french onion soup, filet mignon, ribeye, and for sides we ordered the chorizo-saffron rice, gratin dauphinois, brussels gratin, and the charred market vegetable which was oddly also brussel sprouts. The only food we really liked was the soup. Everything else was just mid and not worth the price. Service was slow. We went on a Saturday night at 7:30pm and the restaurant was only half full. We ordered everything including drinks as soon as we sat but didn’t receive our entrees until we’d been there an hour. Drinks were great! We got the Ay Papi & Auld Alliance.

    Amazing atmosphere and ambience! We love Upstairs and regularly select it for our special occasions. Sea Bass and Kampachi (yellow tail) dishes were amazing! Dined at the bar which is our favorite from a scenery perspective and to chat with the amazing bar staff and other guests. Five stars!

    Staff service was attentive, friendly and timely. The food was delicious. There are 3 things that I think needs prompt attention. 1. We arrived less than 5 minutes before our 5pm reservations and were told to sit in the lounge as we would be seated at 5pm. Except for the wait staff that were standing around by the bar, the restaurant was completely empty. We would be the first table. I’m in my 60’s, and dined at numerous fine dining restaurants in the past, I’ve always been seated if arriving less than 5 minutes from my reservation time. I found this to be a slight and quite rude. 2. Bar glasses smelled like fish tank water. Very strong and unpleasant fish tank odor. I have smelled this at other restaurants and sum it up to the restaurant’s dishwasher needing to be serviced, deep cleaned, etc. 3. My party wanted to omit some ingredients, like goat cheese, from a side of polenta, not due to an allergy but personal dislike. We were told this was not possible, unless it was due to an allergy. 4. Another member of my party wanted to substitute a vegetable side dish for another vegetable and was told this could not be done. We have dined at Nico’s Upstairs at Pier 38 many times in the past because of the food quality, ambience, service, location, ample free parking and am fully aware of how much our tab would end up being at the of our meal. Highly suggest management take a sincere look at what is noted above and correct them.
