Our magical conservatory restaurant is set amid Updown’s rambling grounds. Dine under the grape vines surrounded by beautiful 17th century brick and watch the chefs in the open kitchen tending to the wood fired grill and original farm house bread oven. The restaurant has been completely transformed by owners Ruth and Oli to be heated and fully enclosed and is open year round.

Menus will be small, hyper seasonal and use the best of local and European produce and change on regular basis to reflect what’s best. Everything is cooked over wood in the open kitchen. There is a short list of exciting wines of limited availability, local beers and seasonal cocktails.

On Wednesday nights in place of our à la carte we cook a Steak Night menu , priced at £30 per person for 3 courses. On Sunday nights the restaurant is closed but we serve a light supper for hotel guests in the Farmhouse.

    Updown has several beautiful spaces in which to host your private event. We have a beautiful conservatory Private Dining Room overlooking the farmhouse lawn. It is perfect for groups of 4 to 14 for a seated meal, or up to 20 for a drinks party. The main restaurant can accommodate up to 50 sitting or 150 standing and is ideal for a larger party.

    Enjoy the best roast chicken around every Thursday night at Updown, in our beautiful dining room set amid rambling grounds. The three course menu always has a seasonal starter, roast chicken to share, and a dessert option, for £30.     For the first time, Updown's stunning garden restaurant and terrace will be open to enjoy 7 days a week this Summer. On Monday and Tuesday evenings in July and August we're offering a beautifully simple seasonal set menu for £40 for three courses. Sample menu: Braised Courgettes with Burrata, Chilli, Mint & Bruschetta - Pork Chop with Borlotti Beans, Tomatoes & Sage - Vanilla Pannacotta with raspberries & Grappa We're always happy to accommodate dietary requirements when notified in advance.

    My partner, daughter and I had the chicken set menu option. The food, service and setting were great. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. One comment to Updown management, please update the set meal prices on your website and printed brochures as they don’t match the menu price. A source of confusion.

    Absolutely gorgeous - booked the Wednesday steak night set menu. Arrived early to enjoy a drink in the sun in the garden, followed by dinner which was delicious in a beautiful setting. Lovely staff just loved it all.

    It is probably two years since we have been to Updown, We found the enclosed dining area delightful. Lovely to have white table cloths, such a rare event these days! We were a party of four and had a lovely evening out but we all thought that the main course of beef sirloin could have been better and better presented.
