Uncle Bacala’s specializes in Italian-style seafood and other inventive dishes in its warm and cozy New Hyde Park eatery. For a tantalizing start to your meal, enjoy the mozzarella in carrozza cheese-stuffed fried country bread and the mashed potato and mozzarella croquettes, both served with marinara sauce. Some of Uncle Bacala’s house entrées include the breaded salmone in agrodolce served over eggplant in a honey garlic sauce, the beef filetto di manzo with mushrooms, roasted potatoes and spinach in gorgonzola-cognac sauce and the apricot-glazed grilled pork chop. Pasta dishes are also popular with diners at Uncle Bacala’s, with options including the baked penne gratin with pancetta and cheese in a creamy sauce and the zucchini linguini fra diavolo, all of which can be made gluten free. Always the best. Consistently excellent !!! Never disappointed. Service on point. Calamari- the best. Perfect crunch to chew ratio. Grilled chicken bruschetta home run every time. Cotton candy to wash it all down.

We have eaten at Uncle Bacala’s a few times and they never disappoint. Valet parking, being seated right away (Thank you Open Table), food, and service right on the money. Our waitress came over took our drink order and returned with amazing cocktails. The menu has many options, but I went with the Chicken Parmigiana. Perfectly sized chicken cutlet with the right amount of sauce and cheese served with spaghetti. I had it top off with grated cheese. Amazing!! We also had the lasagna and an order of chicken tenders and fries off the child’s menu. Get the kids fix price menu it’s worth it. We started with perfectly fried zucchini flowers. Amazing!! At one point the lights went out, but the staff remained calm and checked on the tables. The lights came on pretty quickly and back to normal. For dessert, we had a mini cannoli and amazing espresso ice cream. Plus the cotton candy came out. The price was right, the place is clean, bathrooms are clean as well. Valet had my vehicle ready. Overall it was an amazing time as always.

The service was great! Our waiter was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was welcoming. The food was delicious, I had the Branzino that was both delicious, fresh, and filling. My husband had the pasta primavera and he raved about it. We both shared a fig and pear salad and the fried zucchini that was tasty and we split the Apple Cobbler for 2 that was awesome as well.

Always a great experience at Uncle Bacala's! Food is always fresh & high quality. Decided to write a review because we were helped by a new waitress. She was absolutely amazing - I have a wild toddler, and she was so accommodating and kind to him - she offered him 3 fork choices because he couldn't make up his mind! Great service.

Food was absolutely phenomenal. However the Saturday evening that we went the service was quite lacking. We started out having one waiter, who was great and very attentive. Halfway through our meal, he seemed to disappear and start working in another room. A female wait person then came over and seemed to take over. This person was beyond distracted and yes, it was pushing 7 PM on a Saturday evening and was crowded. As we were finishing dessert, she came over and asked us if we wanted dessert We asked her for our check twice, it finally came, and then she disappeared. We waited almost 15 minutes, and wanted to leave. We finally got the attention of a different waiter altogether and just asked him to take our check. As we were getting up from the table, she finally showed up and we explained we gave it to somebody else. Food is great and we always get a good meal here, but Service definitely could be better.
