Uncle Bacala’s specializes in Italian-style seafood and other inventive dishes in its warm and cozy New Hyde Park eatery. For a tantalizing start to your meal, enjoy the mozzarella in carrozza cheese-stuffed fried country bread and the mashed potato and mozzarella croquettes, both served with marinara sauce. Some of Uncle Bacala’s house entrées include the breaded salmone in agrodolce served over eggplant in a honey garlic sauce, the beef filetto di manzo with mushrooms, roasted potatoes and spinach in gorgonzola-cognac sauce and the apricot-glazed grilled pork chop. Pasta dishes are also popular with diners at Uncle Bacala’s, with options including the baked penne gratin with pancetta and cheese in a creamy sauce and the zucchini linguini fra diavolo, all of which can be made gluten free. Decided to take a Bar top seat. The bartenders were amazing, attentive in a fully packed area. The hot antipasto I would highly recommend. Our main dishes were simply amazing and I ordered Surf and Turf. The filet and lobster were cooked perfectly. Great job Peter and staff. This restaurant is my go too going forward.

Experience some of the best Italian food on Long Island. The portions are just what you would expect from an Italian family restaurant. The service is very attentive and the evening is very enjoyable as Peter, the owner, takes pride in running his business.

As always Uncle Bacala's dinner was amazing. I wanted to try something different, the tilapia with pine nuts. Delicious. We also had the fried oysters, hubby had fettuccine alfredo. For dessert the waffles. Blew my mind. Delicious and very light. As always Giovanni is an amazing server, I even brought in my own lychees for a lychee martin, and Giovanni made it perfect for me. Thank you Pete for a great meal
