Friends were visiting from LA. We chose UMMO because it looked interesting. The ambiance has a great vibe. The food was innovative and fabulous. We ate family style so we tasted everything. The presentation was amazing the the flavors were even better. Our server, Madison, was very informative and made great recommendations. Don't miss the octopus carpaccio (right?!!!) The unique cocktails were also spectacular. The noise level was perfect - some energy, but we could hear each other. We will be back.

Service for brunch wasn't bad, we just couldn't ever get a hold of the wait staff. Drinks were made incorrectly. We got the wrong order twice, and one dish had to be sent back. Some of the dishes were quite good, but others were nearly inedible. Not consistent.

The experience started off on the wrong foot with extremely slow service; we waited over 25 minutes just for a waiter to greet us. We were about to leave when she finally arrived, and while she was extremely nice and knowledgeable about the menu, the overall attentiveness throughout our meal was lacking. The dishes came out fairly quickly once ordered, but the quality was hit-or-miss. The signature pasta tortellini dish was the highlight and truly delicious. However, the other two dishes, the black cod and tortelli, were bland and disappointing. Overall, not worth a return visit, and I would advise others to look elsewhere for a better dining experience.

Food and drinks were, staff was attentive and friendly, but almost too attentive. From the moment we sat down I felt like we were constantly being moved onto another drink or next course. Felt rushed.

I wanted to like UMMO but it was sadly not good and not one id repeat. The service was spotty, my friend’s cocktail had to be remade twice (a well drink with soda, but both times it tasted of flat water), the waiter brought the wrong bottle of wine and when we clarified they insisted it was the right one, the food was not very flavorful- my lobster pasta had one piece of lobster in it. The desserts were creative but not super well executed. The decor was very lovely and I so wanted to like our meal but alas it had the veneer of a Chicago fancy restaurant (and prices) but didn’t deliver in terms of food or service.

Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. Food came out timely and prepared to perfection. We enjoyed the ambience and would definitely come back again.
