Ulu Kitchen by Merriman is an ocean front restaurant offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner service featuring local ingredients and recipes created by chef Peter Merriman.

We have indoor and outdoor dining options, with a full bar, and the most prime dining views in all of Ka'anapali. The breakfast menu features classic favorites like Eggs Benedits, omelettes, pancakes, as well as some unique dishes like the cure (breakfast ramen) and our Hawaiian chilaquiles.

Lunch features our signature smash burger, fresh ahi tuna poke bowl, tempura battered fish and chips, and a fresh local veggie wrap.

Dinner has a seafood forward menu featuring Ahi Sashimi, Grilled Tako, Scallops, Mahi Mahi, Shrimp and Lobster Ravioli. From the land we offer a USDA Prime Beef Filet Mignon, Snake River Farms Wagyu Beef Cheeseburger, and Maui Nut Venison Loin.

Top of the line experience from beginning to end with outstanding service by Cody. We sat outside where if it had been sunset I’m certain would have been a fantastic view. Had the outstanding Monkeypod Mai Tai to start the evening. The coconut corn chowder was the absolute best. For entrees we had the mushroom pot pie and cheeseburger and fries. Both perfect. Spoke with manager Joel on departure and told him we’d definitely be back. They do need to update menu info on Open Table format.

Hands down the best restaurant we’ve visited in Maui so far. Would highly recommend! ….and I can’t wait to go back! Fresh caught ahi practically melted in the mouth. Dungeness crab cakes were next level good, and Dungeness crab is one of my all time favorite foods. Lobster ravioli was also amazing, but only ever so slightly over shadowed by how much we loved the first two dishes. Sidebar: the Monkeypod Mai Tai is pretty divine too. I’d say Ulu is a can’t miss.

I had the Ahi special which had their creamy potatoes as one side and if I have ever had better tuna with the taste of those potatoes, not sure when or where.

Our server was lovely, and the food was good. That said, there were kids running, screaming around the table all through dinner. In addition, our appetizer wasn’t even finished when our main courses came. We would’ve expected the timing to be much better. It wasn’t like lots of people were waiting for our table. For a high price point restaurant, it felt very pedestrian. My husband‘s venison was excellent. The mushroom pot pie I ordered was good, but not nearly as good as his meal. And all of it was pricey. Not sure if we will go back.

The lobster ravioli and filet were outstanding, as were the beans. Unfortunately we can't comment on the corn chowder - our server didn't send the item to the kitchen. Overall the service was not up to the standard set by the kitchen.

Food came out cold, returned to kitchen for a re-fire, my entree steak frites was okay my wife’s fish was terrible. It was half the portion of fish, no rice that was supposed to be included and was on the cold dish. Green beans were terrible, loaded the plate with them and just saturated with garlic as if it was from the bottom of the pot. Elevated the concern to the waitress who offered a free desert, we said no. I had to go to locate the manager who was aware of the situation. He did not even have the professionalism to come to our table, he left the onus to explain the situation on the waitress and he set up the young waiting fail. Once approached and only on my feedback that I was not paying for to fish did he remove it from the bill. Needless to say zero percent tip was left. I have to mention that we ate there a week ago and had more or less the exact same meal, this is why we came back. That meal and service was excellent. Last week compared to today was completely different and terrible. Obviously no QA/QC coming out of the kitchen and no oversight from the manager.
