Ula is a beautiful European Mediterranean restaurant and tapas bar in San Francisco. Sip your martini or quality wine with a seafood-centric menu that has a focus on raw, roasted, and grilled fish and various roasted and grilled meats, pasta, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan selections. The restaurant is maximalist art deco with fixtures that depict jellyfish, oysters, and grand maritime vessels. Just a hop from Union Square, the delightfully vintage dining room begs to be paired with a nostalgic trolley ride and a stroll through the heart of the city. South Africa’s most celebrated sparkling winemaker, Pieter Ferreira, and founder, Graham Beck, will be at Ula in the Jellyfish Bar on Monday, 11 November 2024 during Happy Hour from 3 to 7 PM (20% of entire check). With every bottle of Graham Beck Sparkling wine, enjoy complimentary dozen Oysters. RSVP to enjoy a glass of Graham Beck Sparkling upon arrival. Graham Beck and Pieter Ferreira began the journey crafting South Africa’s premier sparkling wine known as Cap Classique. Made in traditional méthode champenoise style, this labor-intensive method honors the French Champagne winemaking approach. The rich limestone soils were specifically selected as they are similar to that of the revered Champagne region in France.

This is the only menu available; there will not be an a la carte option. Cancellations within seven days of the reservation will result in a per person charge of $50. Cancellation policy will also apply to cancellations due to COVID 19 and all health or travel related circumstances. Honestly the photos look a lot cooler, the place is an interesting place, it’s cool with the design, but the food was OK, the service was very slow, we didn’t get greeted for about 25 minutes when we got there, some of the food was late in coming, we ended up being there way longer than we needed to, just so we can finish eating. We didn’t get checked on that much and there were literally only a few other tables/guests there. Every other place was booked up on a Saturday night, this place was half empty, so that should’ve been a warning perhaps. Bar was good, but I expected a little bit more out of the food, like the filet mignon, and halloumi cheese were whatever. The beef tartare was good on the side of bread was also very good. Not bad, but will try other places next time.

The staff was friendly but the server didn't know the difference between basic red and white wine varieties. The beverage menu listed items that were no longer available. The digestif I ordered came in chilled class and after my guest finished her dessert. Port should not be served chilled. Prices were much higher than reasonable for even simple menu items. We shared a pasta dish, an appetizer and had two cocktails. The price was $140. I was unable to express my dissatisfaction with the subpar service as a 20% gratuity was included.

After years of visiting this yesterday as Farralon’s we were pleased to see it remains the same fabulous dinning experience under a new name- Ula.

The food was insanely good. Eggplant carpaccio, halloumi, and garlic truffle steak fries were a few of our favorites. The bread pudding and chocolate deluxe were amazing dessert picks. Thursday night had a live DJ with great music and vibes. Will definitely be back! Thank you!
