Uchi, "home" in Japanese, is founded by James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole. A delicate balance of elevated food and impeccable service, Uchi offers non-traditional Japanese cuisine with signature tastings, sushi, and seasonal omakase. Reservations are encouraged and can be booked online up to 1 month in advance. Walk-in bar seating is available and is subject to wait times. I had an amazing experience at Uchi!! Our server was outstanding and dominic who was bringing us out our omakase was amazing!! Definitely i’m coming back!!

I eat out for work and eat a lot of high-end sushi and definitely expected more. Here are a couple thoughts… First, for high in sushi, presentation does mean a lot. It was so dark at our seat I literally could not see what was on top of my individual piece of sashimi. So this certainly distracted from the overall experience significantly. Well I understand portion size is small at high-end sushi and the entire point is to be able to taste the subtle flavors of the fish, the portions and bites were so small (approximately the size of a sugar cube) that I found myself moving the food around in my mouth just to try to get to the flavor. On top of that, the sauces that come with it, instead of enhancing the flavor, actually distracted from it because there were so little food in the bite that I could not make any discerning flavor of the fish itself. Back to the sauces, they were all quite nice but extremely similar… Brown, with variations on soy, miso, or barbecue base. The entire experience left me with not a single bite that was memorable out of the eight or nine dishes we tried. Unfortunately, there is not a single thing that would make me want to go back… Which is usually not the case for a high-end sushi place. Now with all of that said, the quality of the food and fish was impeccable. Zero complaints there. Additionally the service was outstanding. Lastly, in each dish, it was very clear that it was thoughtfully prepared and the flavors were meant to go together and I certainly give the chef credit for that, but because of the portion sizes and amount of sauce often on the plate, I feel the overall execution was lacking and left a very poor experience. So I wanted to love it, but for the price, there are other high-end sushi places that are far better.

Everything was outstanding! Service, food, ambience, place. Will definitely come back. One of the best sushis I have ever had.

We celebrated our anniversary at Uchi and had a marvelous evening! Our server(s) were amazing with explicit detail to every item. We did the tasting menu, and highly recommend it! Will definitely be going back.
