Located in the bustling River North neighborhood of Chicago, Tzuco, helmed by the Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytán, offers a blend of authentic Mexican flavors and sophisticated French techniques. Named after Chef Gaytán’s hometown, Huitzuco, the restaurant boasts a menu rich in ceviche, seafood, and traditional Mexican dishes, served in a spacious dining room, lively bar, lounge, and an all-weather outdoor terrace.

                                                                          Tzuco is such a beautifully appointed restaurant. It feels like an artistic experience. Dinner was great. Elegant and interesting presentations. It was a special, pre fixed event. Most courses were very good. The soup was outstanding, loved the duck carnitas tacos, the Gordita was a little too hard to eat and the risotto was a bit bland and soupy. Dessert with meringue was so pretty and tasty. Great wine choices, especially loved that they were Mexican. All in all, a delightful evening. Maybe Mexican music would be nice.

                                                                          Our waiter Spencer was under qualified, but that he was dipped in gold. I had to ask him 100 times to do one thing or another at our table. I felt like I was the waiter. There were so many missteps on his side, a notable one was when he put a dessert menu down on top of our dinner menu - mind you… He had taken our appetizer order and 20 minutes later had still not come back for our dinner order has the reason we still had our dinner menus on our laps. They were on our laps because he had put so many glasses down on the table for our wine ( that sat unopened in our table) that there was not a square inch to put anything anywhere. He then sauntered over and told us that he had “good news and bad news “ The good news was that he had a dessert menu for us and the bad news was that the kitchen was closing at 9 PM. We were ignored for most of the dinner until he dropped the check and then circled our table 9 times waiting for us to sign it. Additionaly, the food was over rated and undercooked. I wish we had the experience that we expected, but I was truly disappointed. I could write 100 other little tales about our dinner experience, but I’m not going to put more time into this. He definitely needs more training and the Kitchen should try cooking the Chili Relano a little longer.  Everything felt like it was just done with a lazy attitude. For the price of the meal, it was unexpected.

I visited twice within a 4 day period and ordered the same entree which was amazing both times (Cochinits Pibil). The wait staff were very professional and provided great customer service. Definitely a great restaurant for date night or girls night out.

                                                                          We absolutely love Tzuco! This was our 2nd time dining with them and they did not disappoint! The Mayan ceviche is one of our favorites as well as the lamb barbacoa! The service was great as always. We hope to be back soon!

                                                                          Definitely expected more… the food lived up to expectations but other service stand points did not. Being asked to wait for your table to be cleaned when it was empty from the start is odd, we were in town celebrating a birthday and anniversary.. we only mentioned the anniversary in our reservation and it wasn’t acknowledged ..my bf doesn’t like celebrating his birthday but everyone else around us was being acknowledged for their celebration… picked this place thinking it would have been more special..will pass next time.

                                                                          Stopped off for drinks and appetizers . The restaurant was decorated for Dia de los Muertos. And it was packed. Nice lively atmosphere. The chips and guacamole were delicious. The ceviche was interesting. If you are wanting the typical ceviche this is far from it. Had a lot of flavor, but a lot of red sauce and very little seafood. Kind of a miss for us. I ordered the Frida. It was refreshing, but seemed like it didn’t have any alcohol in it. Probably would have been better if I would have ordered wine. Overall great attentive staff and pleasant atmosphere.
