Truluck’s met and exceeded my expectations as I celebrated my 65th Birthday. The experience was warm, welcoming and most memorable. The decor is picturesque, the service personable, the food options are inviting, proportions generous and did I mention, the food is exceptional. The cherry on top was my first, and not to be my last, Baked Alaska. I’m so thankful a friend highly recommended this place after her memorable birthday celebration, and would be remiss if I didn’t pass it on. As a native Washingtonian, I have found dining experiences like this are few and far between in our DMV area. To be enjoyed again!

Trulucks has been on my bucket list for a year or two, the stars aligned pregame Caps, did not disappoint. Service was top notch, nice atmosphere, lobster bisque was star of show. Oysters were decent, stone crabs were huge, little pricey, but we know this. Four out of five stars.

Food was excellent. I have dined at the Houston location in the past and had a wonderful experience and sought out this restaurant based on that experience. Although the food was excellent as expected the service was less than stellar.

The food was delicious, but the service was severely lacking for a busy Saturday night. It was so crowded that people were struggling to push past our chairs to walk by. Our server didn’t return for long lengths of time. The wine we ordered to drink with our meal didn’t arrive until we had finished. It was my husband’s birthday and they did bring out a dessert that we could share. It was just ok, but I appreciate the gesture. Probably won’t return, at least during peak dinner hours, as other DC restaurants give a better dinner experience.

The food was great but we sat at the bar and for most of the time there were no personnel at the bar servicing the people sitting there. When there was staff there they were talking to each other and not really paying attention to the customers. At this level of restaurant the expectation is good if not great service.
