Welcome to the True Wild Distilling Bar & Restaurant, A live-fire restaurant nestled between towering whisky and gin stills inside a stunning heritage building. Went to True Wild for my husband’s birthday dinner. As always I checked the menu prior to arrival. Much to my surprise it was not at all what the menu was in restaurant. This was extremely disappointing to me. The food we did order was good though steak was not hot upon arrival and mustard was too spicy to eat. Our sides, broccoli salad and fries, were both tasty. I did love the wine glass. Thin glass with a very skinny stem. Our waiter was very nice and friendly. Music and noise on the main floor was way too loud but luckily we were seated on the second level.

We visited True Wild Distilling with high expectations, thanks to the glowing food reviews, but our experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We started with the broccoli salad, which was heavily covered in parmesan but didn’t quite hit the spot for us. The beer tartar came with chips that tasted like Ruffles All-Dressed, which we weren’t fans of. Unfortunately, the French fries were stale and seemed to have sat at the window for a while before reaching our table. That said, there were some bright spots in the meal. The chili oysters were fantastic—flavorful and fresh, definitely a highlight. The cheeseburger wasn’t bad either, offering a satisfying bite that stood out amidst the other dishes. Perhaps we caught the restaurant on an off night. We’re still intrigued by the rave reviews and are willing to give it another shot in the future, hoping for a better experience next time.

Especially enjoyed the fish burger for lunch. Would like to return for dinner some time. Beautiful spot!

This food is phenomenal and the drinks are crafted so well. The family style dishes and the ambiance made for a perfect date night. The staff were so welcoming and knowledgeable. Looking forward to going back for future date nights.

This is the best spot in Calgary! Great experience all around. Took some friends from the east coast sent em home with a bottle of whiskey. I’m sure they are going with a great memory. Thank you!

The building itself is spectacular and definitely worth checking out. When it comes to our experience, we waited for 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. Some of the items on the menu we wanted to order were not available. The staff was attentive while we were waiting, and they tried to explain why they ran out of certain options on a Friday night. Overall, we would visit again for the ambiance but not for food.
