Trani’s Dockside, is a new waterside restaurant launched by one of the port town’s best known restaurant families. The restaurant was able to hold a soft grand opening on May 16, the 98th anniversary of the opening of the original Trani’s Majestic Cafe that opened in 1925 in downtown San Pedro.

Had dinner at the bar. Derek was our server. We were very impressed with his service and recommendations.

We arrived for an early meal at 5pm. The food was delicious and enjoyed very much!

The hostess was very nice came over to our table and asked if we had been there before which it was our first. She recommended some amazing dishes which we tried and they were all great selections our server Kevin was very attentive, his hospitality was spot on. highly recommend for a date night. Definitely won’t be our last visit.

This place is rated among the top six in the area by Open Table. I find this astonishing. The problem with the place is a lack of knowledge about cooking seafood. I ordered grilled squid which was grossly overcooked and chewy. Then swordfish that was even worse. It was brutally cooked at a massive heat for too long, charred on the outside and chalky and flavourless on the inside. The price is expensive so I felt annoyed not just at the chef and management but also Open Table for extolling the virtues of this very mediocre restaurant as if it was something special. The outside terrace looks out onto a car park and there’s not a single piece of greenery on the terrace to relieve the dismal atmosphere. I can’t imagine why anyone would want to sit there. Inside they have a couple of giant TV screens. Giant waste of money. The sides were OK.

Food was wonderful, a bit pricey but we all loved what we ordered…sea bass, mushroom gnocchi and fish and chips plus anchovy toast, Calamari, squash blossoms. Dessert was very small; Neapolitan ice cream. What I was pleased most about was more sound baffling had been installed. Before, we had to yell into the ear of the person next to us to talk and our ears rang for the rest of the night but now with a table of 4 we could talk without yelling yay! I think even more sound baffling can be applied to make it even more comfortable! A nice evening out!

It was our anniversary and they had a card at our table.The waiter was friendly and very attentive. Food was excellent. We had a wedge salad , fish and chips and seafood pasta. We had gelato for dessert-excellent

Great food as usual. Worst service I have had at Trani's maybe that they were understaffed, but thinking is is more... Hopefully just a bad day..
