My wife and I booked a reservation at Trace to celebrate my parents 55th anniversary. We’ve been anticipating the opening of the Trace and reviewing the menu online made us even more excited. The maître d', Hector, was wonderful and welcoming. Our table was in front of a fireplace in a dark speakeasy type environment. The music was not too loud. At 7PM, the restaurant was approximately half occupied and the volume level was just fine for us to converse. Our waitress, Felicity was great. Knowledgeable abouttheir appetizers, entrées, and the desserts. Blair was also a stand out with his oyster recommendations and talking about the high quality of the food that is received daily. We had oysters, bone marrow, various side dishes (garlic mashed potatoes, carrots with goat cheese, two servings of the delicious bread), the scallop dinner, and pork chops. Everything was fantastic, including the mango cheesecake for dessert. The cocktails were creative, another table had a cocktail with dry ice I believe. The lavender honey martini was delicious and the bacon Manhattan was spot on, complete with Luxardo cherries. I highly recommend Trace for anyone looking for an elevated dining experience whether you are staying at the Oglebay resort or not. 5 stars, way to go, Oglebay!

This restaurant is new at Oglebay Resort and we tried it tonight. It’s been open for seven weeks and they are really doing an excellent job. The manager, Hector ,is top-notch and the staff well trained. Will definitely come here again the next time we’re in the area.

Very dark and unwelcoming environment. Food was common and was cold when served. They wanted to be fine dining but was missing so many important aspects. It was fine dining price with low end quality.

I loved the room , atmosphere and service was great! The food was fresh and well flavored. My steak was too well done, but I ate it anyway. Very nice experience!

I was traveling solo and stayed at the Oglebay Resort, where the Trace Chophouse is located. I have a very small appetite, so I usually stick to soup, salads, and appetizers. I had a delicious bowl of lobster bisque, and a very tasty beet salad, a crab and ham appetizer (although I expected lump crab chunks but got shredded crab), and two delicious drinks (a Caprese Martini and a Pumpkin Spice dessert martini). My server, Felicia (Phylicia?) was as perfect as could be -- pleasant to talk to and very attentive. I would definitely recommend Trace if you're looking for fine dining around Wheeling, WV.

The service and meal was excellent. I had the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly. Nice atmosphere and very relaxing.

It was ok. Good menu with lots to choose from. Wine list was good with a wide variety. The decor was very nice. Music in the background was good but not enough to quiet the noisy table next to us- we could hear almost every word of their conversation. One of the steaks was ordered medium and came medium rare. Service was ok. Waiter was young and inexperienced. I would suggest sending the wait staff to some top places to learn the trade. The manager did a nice job of greeting us and opening the door but never came by our table - the place was not that busy. He could have easily seen the steak was undercooked without us saying anything. For the area it is one of the nicer places. Long way to go to be at the level of a Morton’s or big steak house but a good option for a nice dinner at Oglebay. We would go again, but don’t expect what you would see at a top end restaurant. Prices were ok. Might seem high for a typical Oglebay visitor.

Excellent menu. Food was very well prepared. Very delicious! It was a little dark inside but fits with the Speakeasy vibe! Certain tables had enjoyed their pre-meal libations a little too much and were quite loud, but that’s not the fault of the restaurant. But the dark wood walls added to the echo effect. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience.
