Four Strangers Walk Into A Bar...

30 years ago, four people working in the hospitality industry met in a bar on Toulouse Street in The French Quarter of New Orleans. Over time they became friends and when the first one moved away he stated, "our paths will cross again." Sure enough, over the next three decades, we worked together and apart in cities across the United States, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Telluride, Washington DC and of course The Big Easy. In early 2021 an opportunity presented itself and Toulouse was born.

Using local, sustainable ingredients, we produce food with a hint of New Orleans style, in the type of place where tourists feel at home, locals are at home, and everyone is surrounded by family and friends.

Server, Valentina, was spot on with food recommendations. Started with the Sausage and Crawfish Poutine. Her description of the spiciness was accurate. We followed with the Crispy Brussel Sprout bites with bacon bits and a cranberry aioli which complimented the sprouts perfectly. We split the Shrimp & Grits with the recommended Andouille sausage for a perfectly balanced (not too stuffed) meal. Topped it by sharing the pistachio cheese cake without a morsal left on the plate. We enjoyed the pleasant quiet evening on the deck so didn't get a feel for the dining area. The bartender made a delicious gin martini, as well as a specialty paper plane and an old fashioned. There were so many things we wanted to try on the menu. We will definitely go back when we are in the area.

Food is hit or miss. Steak was great, shrimp and grits were just OK, and pistachio cheesecake was delicious. Excellent service from our server, Laurențiu (sp?). Really kind, patient guy. Turn off the early 2000's pop punk tho,

Cute place. Would eat here again. Nothing bad to review. Food was good. Mashed potatoes with Blackened Ahi was blended with too much horseradish but the Ahi was delicious. NY strip was fine, but to be fair it was requested to be cooked to medium so, well, you know. Wine list was rather unimpressive but it appeared that they excel at cocktails. I would have liked more Cajun options.

My name is James, with my friend Zan, as Assistant Manager & Manger, we helped to open the original Station House Inn Restaurant under the ownership of Lew Wiliford. This restaurant has survived many changes ("LewMarNel's," etc.) . Now, as "Toulouse," the restaurant is the FINEST it has ever been. My waiter, Lauren, was perfect; as was my Shrimp & Grits entree (with the Louisiana Sausage). My decades of background in Food Service often tempts me to 'test' aspects of where I'm dinning. So, I asked Lauren to order me a "Vesper Martini" (see 2006 film "Casino Royale"). The Bartender (savvy lady) knew exactly what I wanted; and after leaving Lauren a 20% tip, I walked to the bar and gave the Bartender a $5 cash tip. Yes—the whole experience is THAT impressive.

Excellent food and service. Generous portions, unique menu, food hot upon delivery. Super friendly staff. Upscale food in a casual atmosphere.

Lovely outside dining spaces, nice selection of apps and drinks, Renzo was a thoughtful server but kitchen was slow this night.

Made a reservation on open table for 9pm. Got a call from a very rude, condescending hostess that they close at 9pm, as my wife and I walked up towards the restaurant for what we thought would be our anniversary dinner. Tried to play nice and ask for suggestions on other places, then asked asked why they take reservations at 9pm on Open Table when their closed since the lady was incredibly rude on the phone as if I somehow personally hacked the app just so she had to call me. Couldn’t even make another reservation in the app because the app thought we were dinning. Asked the hostess if she recommended any places that are open. She recommended Applebee’s. Which makes sense because that’s probably the closest thing to fine dinning anyone has ever taken her. Ended up walking up towards downtown and found a lovely restaurant that was open and had an amazing dinner at not Applebee’s.
