Top Hatters Kitchen and Bar is a modern neighborhood restaurant, that has secured a place on the SF Chronicle's top 100 list and has been honored with a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. We serve an eclectic mix of rustic made-from-scratch dishes, celebrating the wonderful textures that make up our neighborhoods. We offer a mingling of small and large plates, meant to be shared, always nuanced and inspired by what we harvest from our neighboring small farms. Our food is approachable, eschewing complicated names, and bohemian in spirit as we are nonconforming and unconventional—sophisticated only in the way we can weave different ethnic influences and ingredients together.

    Everything we ordered was delicious! Had the grilled oysters. Loved them so much we had to order another order. The broth the muscles came in was creamy and fragrant. The pate was so delicious we made a meal out of it and just about licked all the bowls. Drinks were great! Only complaint was that they were overpriced for the size of the drink, lighter pour and cost more than most of our food items.

The culinary journey begins with a delightful array of dishes; the oysters are fresh, the pork belly is succulent, the mussel curry is richly flavored, and the meat platter is a carnivore's dream. But the star of the show is undoubtedly the pork dumplings – served in a trio, they are a unique twist on a classic favorite. With each main dish priced between $25-50 and appetizers around $20, the value is exceptional, especially when shared among friends. And let's not forget the cocktails – they are a revelation, masterfully crafted to the point where the alcohol is but a whisper, allowing the symphony of flavors to shine through.     Do not miss the mushroom pate. I've never dined here without ordering it. Ellis and the whole staff on Sunday evening was amazing! Thoughtful, helpful, and incredibly on point. Thanks for a great night.

    This surprising location is lovely in an indoor/outdoor beautiful airy building, the staff are attentive and the food is just outstanding and reasonably priced. All four in our party were raving over the flavors and inventive combinations- from the eggplant poppers, to the slaw with crispy tofu, to the galangal pork skewers. We shared six dishes for lunch and there were no disappointments. We were already planning our return visit. It's a 30-40 minute drive for most of us and is well worth it. For a very satisfying and filling lunch with no drinks, we spent about $21 per person before tax and tip. Another reviewer complained about the digital ordering but it was a cinch and the server was very available when we had questions. The restaurant explains that it leaves staff available to be more attentive in these times of staff shortages and we all agreed it was a wise move. All around a wonderful experience. If you prefer a quieter setting, choose the outdoor dining.

    Outstanding food! This was my first visit and I will be back frequently. Cocktails were masterfully crafted with a blend of juices and spices I’ve never encountered. Each dish was truly unique. The rock fish was grilled to perfection. The accompanying sauces were tangy and fresh. My party of three were in full agreement. This is one of the best meals we’ve had in the Bay Area.

    This is our second time coming to Top Hatter. Service and food did not disappoint. We shared all our dishes and it was more than plenty. The meat platter was amazing. All donuts, savory and sweet, hit the spot! There was an amazing pork dumpling that blew our minds!! It was so good the server came straight to us to recommend it and we are so glad we did. I look forward to our next visit!!
