Given reviews, expected better. The food was ok but not great. Portions smaller than I thought they would be given prices. Pasta was cooked well, nice and al dente, marinara was inoffensive. Eggplant parm was decent. But basically pizzeria quality.

Tony & Elaine’s is a staple of ours that we were introducing to friends before a show at the garden. Only outdoor seating available a few days before for reservations, but beautiful fall weather so excited to enjoy the alley seating. Unfortunately, the entire alley smelt like cleaning solution (think organgey simple green) and every surface (plates, silverware, tablecloths, water glasses, US!) were covered in flies. We had already ordered a bottle of wine but settled up and left before the rest of our party could arrive. No ones fault, but unbearable to sit through comfortably for a meal.

We were seated on the patio while staff was actively dumping gallons of bleach on the ground to try to eliminate trash smell. The smell was nauseating and we had to leave before even ordering entrees

I liked this place a great deal, especially for Boston which as a city I think has a sub-par food scene from a global perspective. There were certainly things that could have been better (e.g., ambience, portion size), but for the quality of food and service and the price I would highly recommend this place to someone that wants a night out. Booking was easy and we were seated quickly.

Worst dining experience we had on our trip to Boston. The hosts and our waiter were appalling. We received a text 5 minutes before our reservation that our table was ready, but when we arrived to the outdoor dining area after being rudely re-directed by the hostess inside (who knew the outside patio was 4 doors down from the actual restaurant entrance?), we were told we would have to wait. After walking around for a while and seeing how crowded other nearby restaurants were, we returned and were finally seated. We had to ask twice for bread for the table. The food wasn't bad but the attitude from the staff made the whole experience unpleasant. We got our dinners to go and left. There are so many great restaurants in the North End, skip this one and go somewhere where they have experienced wait staff with a positive attitude.

We booked a table for patio. Unfortunately the evening weather was too chilly so we opted for booth inside. The minute I entered the restaurant it felt like the North end from eras gone by. I loved it. The red leather booths and checkered tablecloths with straw Chianti bottles!! It felt local, charming and fun for 4 friends to get together. The menu was limited which for me was just fine. I had Chicken Marsala which was perfect. My friends had eggplant Parmesan and said it absolutely delicious. Definitely will be back when I want an evening out with good friends, great food and a bottled red! Oh and the soundtrack was perfect

Small portions for the amount of money they charge the quality of the food was just ok the service was good but purely a tourist trap

The food was delicious! We started with the calamari, and had the spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna as our main courses. We loved everything!
