It was a lovely place with lovely service; however, the quantity and quality of the food were very disappointing, given the price. For the Sunday roast, the vegetables consisted of a small bowl 10 cm in diameter, shared between two people, with one, yes, one small floret of cauliflower cheese each, half a dessert spoon of diced carrot, and other vegetables. Given that vegetables are the cheapest aspect, they need to consider whether profit on a neal is worth more than repeat custom and good advertising.

The restaurant was busy, probably due to the school holidays as there were quite a few young children there which added to the noise level, but it was ok. I had originally booked a table for two but we had an additional unexpected guest and the young waiter very kindly found us a larger table. We had the OAP special which had gone up in price since I was there last month but I’m sure the portions were slightly larger, and all the food was delicious.

Service was very reasonable. We were not asked about a dessert until after we paid the bill, too late then.

A little bit disappointed as we made a reservation initially for 7 but then tried upping it to 11 but we couldn't do this online so had to phone, which was all fine. I then phoned again to up it to twelve and ask if they could do anything special for us (as a surprise for my wife) as we were celebrating our fifth anniversary at the location we got married. The lady on the phone was great and said they would be able to do some table decorations and stuff and she would note it down. The problem came when we arrived and our booking was still for 7 - though this had been changed by phone TWICE and they had no idea about the table decorations or anything. To be fair the staff did all they could to host the booking of 12 despite being very busy, it was just disappointing that it wasn't already sorted as it should have been and the extras that I was told we could have were missing. The food was good except for some mould on one of the sandwiches (some of us had afternoon tea) which was quickly resolved with complimentary extra sandwiches - one of which was also mouldy. One of the meals was taken off the bill. So to summarise, the staff on the day did a good job and were very fair and helpful when the problems arose, but I am disappointed as the problems shouldn't have arisen in the first place.

Staff wonderful and very pleasant, they certainly make it work. Cutlery unclean Food not great, given that there is a small choice. Would I recommend ? No

The service was little hit and miss. We waited over hour for our food!? Then the food gone down hill wasn’t as nice as the last time I went. Overall was shocking

Afternoon Tea was delicious. Beautiful setting and atmosphere. Only slight criticism was that the service was quite slow and it wasn't busy the time we came in. Had to get up and go to the bar to ask for a few things but the servers were very polite and approachable, just would have been nice if we were checked on at some point. We would come back again

Friendly staff, polite annd helpful. Unfortunately, two of the jacket potatoes we ordered were not cooked properly and we had to return to the kitchen. On the second attempt, one of the jackets was still not cooked through so shared one between us rather than send back. There must have been a shortage of beans and cheese, as the amount on the jackets was minimal. The desserts were good value for money and the ice cream was delicious. The uncooked jacket was taken off the bill and they did reduce the bill by 10% as way of an apology. Such a lovely setting - just a shame the food wasn’t quite right.

I thought the decor and ambience was calming and appropriate for the seaside. The staff are friendly and sme and are welcoming. Even if busy, will try to help when they can. There is something for everyone on the menu. Overall a very good experience.
