Lovely roast dinner but 2 roast potatoes is a bit stingy for a £21+ roast a few more potatoes and extra gravy pot would have been a 5 *

We had a lovely Sunday roast at the Yew Tree once again; one of our diners had a gluten free meal and another had a vegetarian ie nut roast. The sticky toffee pudding was gluten free and excellent. The service was also excellent, all staff appeared to be working their socks off, remaining patient and dealing with all sorts of customers. We sat at a very nice table outside which proved to be not such a good choice because of the number of families with small children in very close proximity; the children were normal and lively but next time I think we will choose to sit inside.

The pub is lovely and our food was lovely, unfortunately they were very understaffed so we were waiting ages for our food, we were given 1 drink on the house but would have expected a bit more for the long wait.

First impressions were very good, a nice cosy local pub.. . BUT . . the pub has been extended and now has a very large number of tables and evidently far more than the kitchen can effectively cope with !! at least that is the case on the busy Friday night of our visit. We waited more than half an hour before our order was taken and then waited a further hour before starters were served and another hour before main courses arrived. We had been waiting over 2 hours before any of the staff informed us there would be a delay. The serving staff were very pleasant but perhaps they too were struggling to cope ? And I'm afraid the Fish and chips was almost impossible to eat. the fish fillet was pretty small and covered in significant batter which was covered in excessive sea salt making it very unpleasant indeed. Friday night the pub serves fish and chips as a takeaway dish in the village and again we suspect the gross over salting was another problem of the kitchen simply overloaded and unable to cope. This has to be a major fault of the management/ownership who must manage their bookings better to give the kitchen and staff a chance to serve decent and timely meals.

We were looking forward to a birthday meal with all my family. 9 of us. We arrived promptly, 19.30, after being shown to our table, no one came to ask about drinks, so my husband went to order from the bar. We ordered our starters and mains shortly after 20.00. Our starters came fairly promptly, and they were all tasty. We then waited, and we waited. No one came to clear our dishes until after 21.00. Our mains finally came about 21.15!!!, apart from my granddaughters plaice that took a while longer, and she insisted we all start so our meal’s didn’t get cold. By the time we had all finished our mains it was 21.45. We decided to forgo a dessert as ‘ who knows how long that would have taken!’ We got the bill and left. We will not be going to the Yew Tree again. A very disappointing experience all round.

Nice ambience, but the food was very disappointing. The starter of humous and pitta bread was very tiny, especially for £8.00 !!! The burger main meal was also very small, especially for £21.00!!
