A beautiful 16th century inn nestled in the peacefully picturesque village of Warehorne. The Woolpack is opposite St Matthew’s church and surrounded by grazing Romney Marsh sheep. There’s a wonderfully welcoming bar, comforting food and five characterful guest rooms.

some of the best food we have had excellent presentation lovely setting. we had 3 different starters and mains as well as real ales all excellent 👌

Excellent food, very expensive when you take into account the small portions. My wife and I thought we would share a starter of whitebait. What arrived was seven fish! That's £1 per fish. Main course for my wife was cod. A very small portion. I had steak and ale pie which again was very small but excellent. It came with about a spoonful of very tasty mash. We decided against pudding. Our bill was a little over £60. 12.5% was included as service charge. I didn't have a drink and my wife had a tonic water with ice and lemon. We were very disappointed as we have dined there many times before. We won't be back.

We believe our portion sizes are generous, offering good value with high-quality, locally sourced food reflected in our prices. While our whitebait portion may appear modest, the large size of each whitebait ensures a satisfying serving. The optional service charge is 10%, not 12.5%. Many customers appreciate having this added automatically, but we are happy to remove it upon request. We apologise for any disappointment caused and hope that you will consider giving us a chance in the future.

Good menu with excellent choices. Has salt and pepper squid but it was merely deep fried squid. Had cod loin and samphire which was very twiggy so I couldn’t eat that. 2 others had mussels as a starter with fries( not really ideal for a starter, should be with bread). Ordered sorbet only to find one wasn’t available. Wine list had good selection, Sicilian red was very tasty. Waitress was lovely and very efficient.

Have eaten here before and the food and service has always been great. Unfortunately the service was poor - had to wait for drinks and had to always call out for the waiter to ask for anything. No whitebait to start, had run out of pies (which was ok) - ordered steak that was tough as old boots and on returning it found out that a number of people had complained and that it was due to a change of butcher! Lamb and fish and chips ordered instead so everyone ate at different times - Lamb was poor no taste and tough again.......was told that came from a different butcher? Had to ask for coffee and more drinks (when I say ask actually get up and go and find the waiter) - he then made a comment about it under his breath? Then we were told they had run out of milk and only had oatmilk.........

A truly wonderful “must stay” on anyone’s travel agenda - staff were outstanding and made me feel so welcome from the minute I arrived to the minute I left - could not recommend this place highly enough. Will definitely be back if my future travel arrangements bring me back to this part of the world.
