The Woodmans Arms is a beautiful ‘country feel’ pub and dining room situated within the village of Whickham, at the top of the hill, hidden amongst rows of spectacular trees. We are more than just a venue, we are a destination worth travelling to serving classic comforting food made with love, served in cosy surroundings overlooking the most amazing views of the North East.

We are the proud winner of the Newcastle Chronicle’s Eddy Eats’ pub of the year for character, quality, service and value. UK top 3 in the Seafish National Fish and Chip awards 2019 and Diners’ choice award for best ambience. Best British Pub Pie winner for 2020.

We support our local farmers, and work closely with a number of local suppliers to ensure the very best fresh produce. All our food is cooked freshly to order so whether it be a bar snack, light bite, leisurely lunch, evening meal or Sunday Roast it is safe to say that you will in safe hands.

Lovely lunchtime food. All 4 our us had delicious food from a great menu. Staff were excellent and service was too. Definitely will be back

Can't wait to come back to the woodmans. It was a real treat as we rarely go out for Sunday lunch. Service was speedy which helps with two young children. Really good portion size for children's meals. Super tasty Sunday lunch and a good selection of meats and vegetables. Enjoyed my dairy free option. My husband was grinning ear to ear with his main and desert. Only thing I would pick at is the children's ice cream could have been more 'exciting.' It was literally a scoop of ice cream in a bowl no extras or fun presentation. My children LOVE ice cream so we've tried a fair few now!

After having visited many times was really disappointing to not have table service in the outside seating area and even though we had left credit card details as we were outside we were unable to open a tab for our food & drinks , none of this was advertised when booking. (Had we been inside we would have been able to open a tab - again not mentioned when booking or we would have requested inside) Normally the staff are happy and helpful but this time that also was not the case , we ate and left very quickly and won’t be rushing back.

The main course was excellent but the sweet was disappointing. The overall cost was very high and did not represent good value. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Absolutely amazing food. The decor is great and the waiting staff are exceptional at there jobs. Just a beautiful place for a Sunday Roast

The service and food is outstanding. It really is a special place to relax to eat or even just have a drink. Nothing is ever a bother and they allow our 4 legged friends, what is there not to love ❤️

We had a great circular table so we could talk easily. The service was excellent with happy staff and our food came in good time. The food was of high standard and definitely value for money. Look forward to coming again soon.

Went for Sunday dinner at 3pm. The food was a bit dry. I think as it was prepared earlier and kept hot for late it drys out. Really not good quality for the value.
