As you would expect from a restaurant nestled on the coast of Northumberland, we have cast out the net when it comes to freshly caught local seafood. Our emphasis on local produce and ingredients doesn’t stop on the shoreline.     A very good Sunday lunch. All four of us were very happy. We have been several times and haven’t had a less than excellent experience yet.

    We always visit the Whittling house when we visit Alnmouth and have never been disappointed The food is wonderful and every member of staff are always cheerful, attentive and we can’t speak highly enough of them Will always return here

    Had a lovely lunchtime meal with our dog. The staff were pleasant and helpful, we chose from the light bite menu (steak sandwich and pear & blue cheese salad which were both delicious). We made room for 2 homemade puddings, the profiteroles and chocolate brownie which were amazing if a little pricey at £9.50 each. Overall we were very impressed and will definitely visit again.

    I had the roasted chicken and the dish was perfectly cooked and the sauce devine. It’s a charming place and the service was very friendly.

    We ate on a Sunday evening and we booked in advance. I would recommend booking for a Sunday as the restaurant was clearly fully booked around the time we ate. Service was excellent, we were offered water when we arrived - it was a very warm and sunny weekend - and given sufficient time to decide on drinks, which were delivered promptly. So we then had time to consider the menu. I’m a vegetarian and I had 4 starter choices and 2 main course choices. Again the time from ordering to food arriving was about right for us. We declined desert and took our dinks to sit in the quieter bar area. Not a cheap night, but lovely food and service.

    Lovely service and food, my only complaint is the cost of wine. £60 for a bottle of Malbec, seriously over the top!

    Everything spot on as always. Superb staff and food. I had the Sunday lunch nut roast and my husband had the fish and chips, the best!! Thank you for the dog treats and ball for our dog too!
