The White Oak is a contemporary Michelin rated pub and restaurant in the heart of Cookham in Berkshire.

Taking hospitality back to it's roots with a warm welcome from our genuinely friendly team, gastronomic experiences showcasing outstanding suppliers and produce but most of all – to enjoy our great quality menu, simply prepared.

The White Oak prides itself on offering a diverse selection of wines, beers, cask ales and ciders. Our carefully selected wine list offers an accessible range of bottles to suit all tastes and dishes and don't worry if you are driving, we have an extensive lo and no alcohol list too.

There is a large garden and terrace which is covered and has heaters, with dining pods for the perfect unique dining experience. There is ample parking and dogs are very welcome in the bar.

Unfortunately for a Friday evening, we didn't get the service desired as a family of 4...sour dough basket didn't turn up at all-had to ask for it only for it to turn up with 2 tiny bits of dry bread and a few rivita sticks, starters were great and so were the mains (steak a little grizzly), triple cooked chips were more like triple burnt and just about do...they did have a good wine list... No atmosphere No customers No ambience I think we either turned up at the wrong time/day or simply a bad at the office....

We had the Sunday roast menu. The pork was dry and crackling not crispy; the beef was fairly tasteless; vegetable were good and herbed roast potatoes tasty; yorkshire pudding not at all light and fluffy; gravy lacked the taste of meat juices. Overall disappointing for the price.

We were a group of 6 and we’re put in a perfect side room where we had a wonderful time. The food was varied, interesting and delicious and the service was charming. Helpful when we needed it but we were left in peace while we ate. We plan to go back as soon as we can.

Warm, friendly service. Well executed food. An impressive set lunch menu, two courses for £27 with an unusual number of items to choose from plus daily specials. Very good.

Excellent food and service. Quite expensive but a real treat and worth it. The music was a little too loud given we wanted to enjoy our conversation, but not intrusive enough to have to ask them to turn it down.

After eating here many times with the previous management, this was to check out the new proprietors. The food range was varied and interesting, and our choices were excellent. Service was attentive, enthusiastic and helpful. We will certainly keep coming here. Our only reservation was that the place needs some redecoration / refurbishment, and we understand this is on its way.
