The White Oak is a contemporary Michelin rated pub and restaurant in the heart of Cookham in Berkshire.

Taking hospitality back to it's roots with a warm welcome from our genuinely friendly team, gastronomic experiences showcasing outstanding suppliers and produce but most of all – to enjoy our great quality menu, simply prepared.

The White Oak prides itself on offering a diverse selection of wines, beers, cask ales and ciders. Our carefully selected wine list offers an accessible range of bottles to suit all tastes and dishes and don't worry if you are driving, we have an extensive lo and no alcohol list too.

There is a large garden and terrace which is covered and has heaters, with dining pods for the perfect unique dining experience. There is ample parking and dogs are very welcome in the bar.

    The food was very good. My wife had the special starter (very big portion) which was devilled liver which was excellent. I had the vegetarian risotto which was good but could have done with a bit more taste through more herbs or spices. Service was very good. The waiter was asked a question which he couldn't answer but went and got the answer from the kitchen

    Outstanding - have been two weeks in a row! Had the baked halibut with razor clams and samphire yesterday- delicious Staff are lovely Fully recommend

    Well thought through service. The staff were friendly and the food was very nice. We will go again. We don’t like the chains and would prefer to pay more. We can spot cheap supply chain food just by looking at it. The beer was well kept too. Thanks to the staff

    Visited The White Oak for the first time on Sunday for a family roast. Very friendly welcome, lovely decor, great service and the roast was outstanding - the food was delicious, hot and plentiful. Will definitely visit again and can highly recommend.

    Subpar Sunday roast which is not in keeping with an upmarket gastro pub My pork roast was dry, there was no cracking even though it was asked for but never appeared. Side dishes were bland. The beef roast had a lot of grizzle in it. Quality of ingredients was lacking and it felt like the food had been sitting or cooked a lot earlier even though we went for lunch @ 1pm. Absolutely no were near the standards of the previous White Oak establishment.

    Lovely ambience, service great. Food nice but needs to be hot - it came originally Luke/warm. Otherwise highly recommend if they can improve that one aspect

    Most of our table enjoyed their food choices. Everything was very tasty. The burger was described as average. Once the staff become more experienced the service will be more joined up. It was helpful to be told the fish needed extras to bulk it up, but it would be better to add vegetables/ potatoes to the dish if you know this. Overall a very pleasant experience and we will go again.
