Refining gastro pub food for a lighter enhanced experience put together by our highly skilled team of chefs. Having worked in several award-winning kitchens, our chefs pride themselves of using locally sourced ingredients reducing miles from farm to plate. Gastro pub classics with exciting modern twists.

Our pub opening hours are 12pm to 11pm Monday to Sunday with food served from noon each day until 9pm Monday to Saturday and until 7pm on Sundays.

Not been here for a while so decided to try it out. All of us had the Sunday lunch, my wife cannot eat potatoes due to intolerance so the waitress brought out a form to fill in to highlight any potential issues which was good. Upon ordering my wife was not offered an alternative option to cater for not having potato which was disappointing given the price, she subsequently had to order extra meats and pigs in blankets which were at cost so we not overly happy with that. Food was prompt and initially looked good however the brocoli was raw and the roast potatoes overly soft not really a roast at all, other veg was fine. Gravy was very thick and the Yorkshire pud too dry and crispy. No cranberry available but had other condiments. Desserts took some time but we were informed of this at the time which was helpful, my wife's was not that appealing and the strawberries in it were not fresh, the creme brulee was excellent. Overall it was a nice pub lovely decor, very good service throughout, on the downside some aspects of the Sunday lunch could do with improving as the price does not reflect the quality. Catering for intolerance in most places we find hit and miss, the menu shows lots of information but a simple offering of an alternative without having to ask would show they are up to the challenge of accommodating for people's needs. We have not tried out the regular menu so couldn't comment.

Gone down on standards overall wrong food bar service poor waiting for drinks an age not as good as previous visit won’t be in a hurry to go back poor attention to detail not a good customer experience

My partner and myself had an evening meal, 1 night stay and breakfast. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful and relaxed on our arrival. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely large bed, fresh fluffy towels and tea and coffee making facilities. We had an evening meal which was delicious along with a great choice of food and wine. The bed was lovely and comfortable and had a great night sleep. As for the breakfast, incredible! The full English was cooked to perfection with plenty of it. My partner had eggy brioche with strawberrys and cream. I would definitely recommend this place.

Everyone really enjoyed their meal. Went for Saturday lunch. Speedy service, great choice, good portion sizes.

Table booked for 6:30, when we arrived there were only 2 other people in the restaurant yet the service was awful! At 20:00 we were still waiting for our plates to be cleared and a dessert menu, we’d only had mains! In the end I got up and asked. Dessert was awful, I ended up leaving it, walked to the bar to pay and left because if I’d have waited for someone to come to us we’d have been there all night. Also sat with an empty glass for about an hour! Even when dessert orders were taken they didn’t mention drinks. Main courses were lovely, but wouldn’t go again based on the fact the service was rubbish! I’d hate to imagine what it would be like if they were busy!

The white Lion has been our favourite pub/restaurant for 14 years and we usually have a good meal, but we were really disappointed with the meal we had. The menu wasn’t fantastic, portion sizes smaller and really average food with little flavour. Desserts were also disappointing. Since changing hands it feels like it’s slipping a bit in quality. Staff are always at tentative and service is great but please focus on the menu and getting the food quality back to how it used to be

The food and staff were great but the live music was just too loud couldn’t hear each other speak. Music would have been better in the bar area so we could still enjoy it but far enough to be able to hear the staff and each other talk

Waited an hour for food the beef was so tough that we couldn’t eat it and roast potatoes were hard.A very disappointing experience

Lovely setting, we were sat in a table up the steps. Food was fabulous, nice quality and generous portions. Drinks service was a little slow, maybe because of a large party in the function room. Food service was also a little slow but well worth the wait. Would be nice to have more premium lagers on the drinks menu. Nicely decorated but needs some background music which apparently they are looking to improve. Would return again.
