The Whistling Bird in Gilbert, Minnesota might be in the Iron Range, but once you step inside, you�ll feel like you�re in the Caribbean. There are umbrellas, wooden parrots, plenty of bright colors and strings of lights hanging from the walls and ceilings. The menu at The Whistling Bird is similarly tropical. For an appetizer, you can have the fried plantains, chips with tropical fruit salsa, red curry mussels or the mahi mahi fingers. There are numerous Jamaican jerk dishes on the menu, too. You can choose chicken, mahi mahi, shrimp, pork tenderloin and more. One very popular option at The Whistling Bird is the lamb curry.

After receiving a recommendation from a friend, we booked a reservation which was not needed but could be on a busy night. Both our meals were delicious, each was a ten out of ten.

Limited menu, only one appetizer for someone with shellfish allergies. Dinner was great except for the alfredo, not close to being served warm. Very friendly service, and overall a great place to start 2015!

Consistently the best steak I've had in a restaurant. Love the gaucho steak!

Top shelf all the way!! A true gem in the northwoods. The rack of lamb was wonderful.

We have tried the whistling 3 times now since new owner. We have had a nice experience all 3 times. Great food and friendly service.

This gem is worth the trip to Gilbert. We had 5 in our party and everyone ordered a different dish. All the meals looked appetizing and tasted great. The Noise level in the dining area is off the charts. The Food made up for the noise but if some acoustic tiles were added to the ceiling it would become a world class restaurant.

We stayed at a nearby campground and made a reservation for 8. I can't say enough about the great time we had. Service great, and the food was even better. Would definatly recommend.
