Based in Greetham, The Wheatsheaf is 6 miles from Oakham and 4 miles from Rutland Water. Carol and Scott took over the Wheatsheaf in March 2008. The seasonal Modern British menu changes weekly. The wine list is based on wines from around the world with a good selection by the glass. We also have an excellent selection of beers and local cask ales.

In 2021 The Wheatsheaf was a new entry in The Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastro Pubs and was also awarded The Michelin Red Plate.

We are closed on Mondays and Tuesday except Bank Holidays.

Great recommendation from another restaurant that didn’t do Sunday lunch. Lovely busy atmosphere with staff clearly knowing what they were doing. Piping hot food with the biggest Yorkshire puddings I have ever seen! Delightfully yummy Prune and Armagnac Crème Brûlée! All in all a great experience!

This is one of the best dinning venues we have been to in the UK and abroad, it is in our top 10. It’s always excellent with a great menu and drinks choice. It doesn’t get much better. The proprietor and staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful, the food and drink is excellent.

I have dined here regularly and have never had a disappointing meal, although the menu format seems to stay the same there are always different things to try,Scott is exceptional front of house with a well trained pleasant team Carol is an amazing chef her fish cooking sublime desserts are superb no matter how much I have eaten I can’t resist them last night I had the most amazing liquorice ice cream, but best of all is the fabulous wine by the glass list as I dine alone it suits me very well congratulations to Scott Carol and team Margaret

Excellent service, great menu choices and superb food as always. Particularly recommend the Do eat Sole: delicious.

The service and staff were excellent. The food could not be faulted. We felt that the price was excellent value for the standard of the meals. The staff were all very helpful and friendly giving us tips on the local area. They also were very knowledgeable on the dishes being served and the ingredients used. It was our anniversary and a lovely touch was the card from the owners and staff.

Same standard of tasty food in pleasant environment with very welcoming staff as on the previous two occasions we have visited. We shall be back again.

Just had my eighth visit to this wonderful restaurant where you always receive a warm welcome. The menu is excellent, food freshly cooked and delicious. You need to book as it is a very popular place to dine. Good car parking
