Based in Greetham, The Wheatsheaf is 6 miles from Oakham and 4 miles from Rutland Water. Carol and Scott took over the Wheatsheaf in March 2008. The seasonal Modern British menu changes weekly. The wine list is based on wines from around the world with a good selection by the glass. We also have an excellent selection of beers and local cask ales.

In 2021 The Wheatsheaf was a new entry in The Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastro Pubs and was also awarded The Michelin Red Plate.

We are closed on Mondays and Tuesday except Bank Holidays.

We had a delicious Sunday lunch. Everyone ate different items off the menu all fantastic. On top of the brilliant food the service was excellent. Flawless from start to finish!

Very relaxed atmosphere with good mix of local drinkers. Food is outstanding, best in 30 mile radius. Easy to park in pretty village.

Another excellent evening at The Wheatsheaf. Great cooking and hospitality. This really is a local restaurant par excellence.

Super meal, we had 2 different starters and 2 different mains, so tasty and homemade bread was delicious No hesitation in recommending

Amazing from start to finish. Scott made us feel welcome and Carol saw us off after a fantastic feast. We cannot praise the Wheatsheaf highly enough.

A very nice lunch en route between Whitby and Gatwick (very convenient location off the A1). We were made very welcome and the pub had a friendly atmosphere. The crab aranchini were excellent and the sea bream was cooked to perfection on top of an imaginatiive mixture of beans and basil leaves - my description doesn't do it justice. The wine list was well selected - good examples of drinkable wines but not over priced Overall this is well worth a stop off - we will return on our next expedition South!

Great recommendation from another restaurant that didn’t do Sunday lunch. Lovely busy atmosphere with staff clearly knowing what they were doing. Piping hot food with the biggest Yorkshire puddings I have ever seen! Delightfully yummy Prune and Armagnac Crème Brûlée! All in all a great experience!
