Situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, The Wensleydale Heifer may be within easy reach of the A1 and M6 but it still feels totally rural. A traditional white-washed inn complete with leaded lights and swinging sign, The Wensleydale Heifer gives the visitor a real flavour of Britain meaning it’s popular not only with locals but with tourists searching for the real Yorkshire. From the lounge, with its comfortable leather settees, country pursuit paintings and imposing fireplace through to the wicker seating, beamed ceilings and eau de nil painted walls, the interior could have leapt from the pages of Country Homes magazine. The contemporary British menu includes seaood from across Britain plus locally sourced meat and veg, all prepared using the Wensleydale Heifer philosophy – keep it simple.

As always, our visit to the WH was outstanding on all counts. We visited this time with some friends who also loved everything about the place - the food, the ambience, the service etc. Marvellous food as always - we all went for 3 courses - unheard of with us 4! And we all finished each of our courses!!!! We enjoyed not being rushed through so we had time to chat, relax and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. We will - of course - be back soon. Thank you

Booked the restaurant and were placed in the fish bar. Food was okay. My wife had the seafood pancake as a main and it was very watery and bland. Provably be a while before we return. Shame.

Second time we’ve been here and it didn’t disappoint. Food was fresh, tasty, hot and plenty of it. Staff are fantastic and very friendly. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

We enjoyed the experience . The restaurant is lovely and was quiet .. the staff was very nice . The food was superb although extremely overpriced for what it was .

A beautiful little gem we stumbled on. Booked to celebrate ny brother's engagement and going out for Valentines. Very thoughtful of them to have written a card and bought a balloon. The small touches mean a lot. The food was absolutely delicious and the ambience in the Fish restaurant was intimate and cosy. We would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

The lunch was perfect. All the staff are most polite and attentive, being prepared to answer all our questions, even going to the kitchen to find an answer. The food is exquisitly presented, cooked to perfection and delicious. Time does not matter here, everything is relaxed and peaceful. Every meal recieves a "wow" as it is served. It would be hard to find anywhere better. Thank you.
