Situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, The Wensleydale Heifer may be within easy reach of the A1 and M6 but it still feels totally rural. A traditional white-washed inn complete with leaded lights and swinging sign, The Wensleydale Heifer gives the visitor a real flavour of Britain meaning it’s popular not only with locals but with tourists searching for the real Yorkshire. From the lounge, with its comfortable leather settees, country pursuit paintings and imposing fireplace through to the wicker seating, beamed ceilings and eau de nil painted walls, the interior could have leapt from the pages of Country Homes magazine. The contemporary British menu includes seaood from across Britain plus locally sourced meat and veg, all prepared using the Wensleydale Heifer philosophy – keep it simple.

We drive to the Heifer, which is over 100 miles every other month for lunch - Why- because we love everything about the Heifer I had the Turbot which was outstanding and the service, the location and of course the food is always good , We are going to book a stayover for my birthday in November It is that enjoyable Peter

This was our first visit with our Doberman at the WH and it most certainly will not be our last. Service was first class, staff very friendly and efficient. The food was incredible, can not wait to return .

Everything about this restaurant was perfect. We headed to Wensleydale Heifer for my partners birthday, where they left a balloon. It’s the little details that go a long way. The food and drink was delicious - we had the Beef Wellington and Salmon Escalope with creamed spinach - all definitely worth trying! The staff were attentive but still gave us enough privacy. If we come back to the area, I’ll definitely be returning. Thank you for making this a special evening for us.

Amazing food cooked with exceptional skill care and thought for the ingredients, the flavours and textures. Worth every penny we paid. The ambience of the restaurant was first class with efficient friendly service which was attentive but not intrusive. The restaurant was clean, beautifully decorated with a few numerous elements in the cloakrooms which was very funny to read.

First visit to this establishment won’t be the last. Had Sunday lunch. Set 2 or 3 course menu. Extensive choice available. Generous helpings. Amuse Boucher at table and homemade petite fours with coffee. Lemon meringue was outstanding. Wine list at table makes interesting read. Knowledgeable, friendly and attentive staff. Was a birthday celebration and experience extra special with welcoming treats.

A warm welcome from very professionally friendly staff, the fish dishes were fantastic and the wine list was extensive Four of us for a celebration lunch had a superb meal and thoroughly enjoyed our day, very reasonably priced for the quality of food
