Welcome to The Warren Restaurant, an extension of The Crowborough Estate, holding stock of Sussex Cattle, Boer Goats, Fallow deer, and Wild boar amongst others which the restaurant draws on for its menu. We are a Dog Friendly restaurant.

Given the provenance, the kitchen predominantly cooks British food, occasionally dipping into other cuisines to provide a vehicle for flavours – nettle gnocchi for example, or poached oyster with wild boar chorizo.

WE wanted a unique fun and informal restaurant, to offer their Crowborough Estate’s produce from. When the site of the renowned Signor Franco’s became available, with those iconic arched windows of its orangery and glorious terrace overlooking the Spa town, the stage was set.

This was our first visit to The Warren so we didn’t know what to expect. We were absolutely delighted with the quality, quantity and value of the Set Menu which we both had as it had some really different and original items on it - which is unusual on a ‘Set Menu’. We chose: Starters: 2x pigeon breast cooked ‘pink’ - delicious. Mains: 2x lemon sole - perfectly cooked with a lovely flavour and a very generous size. (Unfortunately we both have similar tastes so no chance to try anything else this time although my wife was tempted by the pig’s cheek starter!) Desserts: 1x lemon and raspberry bavarois. 1x cheesecake. Both excellent. There was a good choice of wines by the glass and half bottle. Service was perfectly timed and we didn’t feel rushed. We will look forward to our next visit.

We were the only ones in restaurant was a Wednesday lunchtime. Considering so quiet it was a shock when our meal came out and the broccoli we had ordered was not ordered by waitress, so we had to ask for meal to be taken away to be kept warm whilst broccoli was cooked. She was expecting us to eat it separately!!

No amuse bouche, despite them being part of the menu. Service very slow. Food very good. Wine list of full bottles rather limited and the long list of wines by the glass somewhat overpriced! Not impressed by 15% service charge as service was very slow.

The food is outstanding quality and the portions are generous. The service was excellent and friendly. I will definitely be returning. Five stars all round

Amazing staff. The food was great, not perfect, I had the tuna and Niçoise salad. Tuna was delicious but the nicoise was pretty poor.

This is the third time we have had the Sunday roast. First time was two years ago, excellent food & very good service. Second time was 2023, food was good & service was OK. This time in August 2024, we were very disappointed. We waited for nearly 1.5 hours for food, but the food was excessively salty & dry. While we waited for our food, the staff served us some bread (just standard baguette) with butter & olive oil but did not tell us there was a extra charge of £2 per person, total of £10! There was only one staff member serving about 20 customers, so service was slow and inattentive. To top it off, there were about 4 to 5 massive flies buzzing around too. Overall a bad experience.
