We were looking for a fun new local restaurant to celebrate our anniversary and are so happy we chose The Veranda. Walking in the door you are met by the most wonderful smell of sautéed garlic and herbs. The menu is small but everything is very well prepared and fresh. The garlic shrimp appetizer is a must try. The service was warm and friendly without being overly solicitous. We feel like it was a great find and plan on returning soon.

Amazing food and family owned! We found this place and just stopped in. We have been make many times since, the handmade pasta is best around.

We had been told by several people The Veranda had delicious pasta and they did not disappoint! We got the Carbonara and a Ceasar salad to split and it was so tasty. Anastasia our waitress was especially delightful! She had a great sense of humor and took good care of us. One warning other reviews mentioned- they do automatically put a lot of parmasan on top of their dishes. Personally, I loved that because who doesn't love cheese? And pasta with cheese just goes hand in hand.... but if for some reason you don't want cheese or have dietary needs where you avoid cheese, be sure to ask them not to add the parmasan. Again, I personally loved all the parmasan, but a person in our dinner party ran into this. We can't wait to go back, and with fall right around the corner, happy to have a great place to go for comfort food!

My wife would agree, our mouths were in a very happy place. I highly recommend a reservation as it is a small bistro. The owners are Ukrainian, he's the chef and she's your Hostess. A Young Ukrainian woman was our waitress who gave friendly awesome advise on entrees. The service was impeccable. The menu is a nice selection of basic Italian dishes with an excellent wine list. I started with the porcini mushroom soup. If you like mushrooms, you'll love this soup. It was very enjoyable. My wife had the Burrata with beef stake tomato slices & prosciutto appetizer. Fabulous. She ordered the Agloi E Olio pasta as a light dish. It was cooked perfectly al dente. Excellente!! You can count on one hand the Italian Restaurants in Virginia Beach who cook paste properly al dente. I ordered the Lamb Ragu - rigatoni paste with shredded lamb throughout the dish in a wonderful marinara sauce. Magnifico!! For dessert, she ordered the panne cotta - a pudding textured dish with a top berry fruit layer. It was exceptional. I ordered the Key Lime Pie slice. It was a simple presentation of deliciousness. I highly recommend you give this Trattoria a try.

My partner and I had a lovely experience at The Veranda. We were surprised to see that the layout of the restaurant was quite small and that the tables were a bit close to each other, but we still somehow felt like the environment was very intimate and pretty with the white walls and the greenery (plants, etc.) In terms of service, it was a Friday night so it was a bit busy and we do wish we would have seen a bit more of our server, as she didn't come to check on us for a long time after our food came out. However, she was very kind and apologized for this. My partner and I sincerely enjoyed the Garlic Shrimp appetizer that came on a piece of bread for each of us. I ended up getting the Lamb Ragu which was very tasty; however, I did feel like my pasta was a bit too chewy for my liking. My partner ordered the Chicken Parm and liked the flavor and felt that the amount of cheese added seemed just right. We paired these with a bottle of rose that was very soft. We finished off with a pastry desert - some sort of vanilla cream with a fruity topping that we enjoyed (cannot remember the name of it - but it was enough for us both to share). In all, I do recommend The Veranda as a cute date night spot, or a place to catch up with friend(s), and so on!

An amazing dinner-food, wine and service. Perfectly decorated with a chic but comfortable vibe. All fresh ingredients. Love the European service where they let the service flow without constant interruptions and no pressure to leave quickly. Outstanding!!!
