Liam and the team behind The Boat are proud to bring to you a modern neighbourhood pub in the beautiful village of Barton-Under-Needwood.

Soak up sun in the garden with a cocktail, or in the winter find a seat inside next to the log burner. Our focus is on modern pub classics with a twist.

Offering breakfast at weekends and a classic Sunday Lunch. We also have space for hire, for private parties, birthdays, meetings or even to kick back for a sporting event.

Inspired by Betty and Peggy our 4 legged residents at our sister restaurant The Boat, where we’ve cultivated our land for crops and created a sustainable eco-system with a focus on reducing waste.

We find it really hard these days to find good food in restaurants!! We had a fabulous meal in the 2 pigs & excellent service & a beautiful atmosphere 🥰

3rd time eating here , portions are not large which is ok but not for young teenagers , food delicious, just need to order extra sides , definitely prefer eating downstairs.

The best Sunday roast I’ve ever had, amazing starters. I had ham hock which was rustic and delicious.my wife had liams fries chicken, the glaze and pickled shallots were a great combo. The main course we both had sirloin beef. Omg it was like silk in the mouth. Prefect roast potatoes and plenty of them “my wifes favourite” carrots with cumin seeds, beautifully cooked green beans. My favourite the slightly charred cauliflower cheese. would I go again 1000%. Need to get alcohol free Guinness.

New Pub/Kitchen. I thought a poor selection of beers on offer and limited menu. Food good. Also would not allow peoples to stand at the small bar area as this caused problems getting served.

We had a fabulous meal tonight with family. Wonderful food, fabulous and friendly service and thoroughly enjoyed by all!

4 of us went for my girlfriends birthday as we’d been to the Boat a few times before, The experience lived upto the expectations of the Boat From when we first walked in the bar staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxing The food was excellent and the staff brilliant Congratulations Abi (& Liam) We will be returning very soon

Excellent food and very attentive (and efficient) service. Our only criticism is the sound levels. It was brilliant to see how busy the pub was but this did mean that the noise levels were very high indeed. This can easily be mitigated with a little more soft furnishing and it won’t prevent us from returning, or recommending The Two Pigs to our friends.

This is an honest review meant to be constructive not critical. First visit with friends as a table of 4 and aware that this establishment has only recently opened. Welcomed on arrival and shown to our table in the upstairs dining room. First impression was that it felt cold. We kept our jackets on to keep warm. It was also loud and echoing , the seating was uncomfortable and it lacked atmosphere. It felt like we were in an overflow area. The menu was a bit unusual and we all struggled to find something to whet our appetites. Having said that, the food was ok and reasonably priced. Not sure if this is meant to be a pub serving food or a restaurant. The service was good and hopefully it will improve.
