The Turf has been one of Devon's favourite destinations since 1827.

A Grade-II listed Georgian pub situated on a private peninsula, we can be reached only by foot, bike or boat.

Enjoy our panoramic waterside location with uninterrupted views across the Exe Estuary, Exeter Canal and Powderham Estate. Our unique location provides the ultimate outdoor adventure and immersion in the area's natural beauty - a tranquil haven to relax, unwind and escape.

Whether in our cosy indoor alcoves or extensive garden grounds, feast on a menu that celebrates seasonal produce from the South West's finest suppliers, curated by chef Rob Dawe.

Chicken curry a bit watery , lemon posset came with an inedible biscuit and not shortbread as stated in menu.

Great Sunday lunchtime meal, ate inside. We ordered too much food but it was all lovely, well cooked and presented. Good value. We had the squid from the BBQ first which was huge, thought it would be a small starter but it was big enough for a main, and then we had a main from the kitchen!! But, it was all beautiful. Husband had the green chicken curry and I had the cold sea food platter, we both loved our meals. The staff were busy but professional and we didn't wait long for our meals. We had a great table and would definitely recommend. So would the dog!

The turf was incredible!!! What can I say it was worth the hassle of trying to get there. My mum is in a wheelchair, we ventured from London to the turf on Father’s Day. There is a very narrow road for about .8 of a mile with little access to this quaint beautiful hotel/ restaurant. Parking was hard and there is no disabled access or parking. That said we parked in employees car park and staff were helpful and supportive. The views are incredible and the food is amazing. Staff couldn’t do enough for us, from the people in the bar and taking our order to the incredible and lovely staff clearing plates. Well worth a visit! Nothing bad to say at all - venture and take the chance and experience a great place to relax xxx more places should be like this

Didn't realise there was an outside gazebo when I booked a table, Start were very happy for us to move our booking outside to get the views. Food was delicious, staff friendly, location unbeatable. Will definitely return.

Booking was straightforward. We arrived on time, in the rain. We were given the table of our choice. Staff were attentive and welcoming. We were the only people eating there that evening due to the poor weather I guess. Food came quickly. Good quality. The offer of a lift back to get my car by one of the bar staff, so that I could return and pick up my family, was much appreciated. Suggestion: perhaps you could offer a “Taxi service” to drivers to collect their cars throughout the summer? I’m sure it would be very popular and increase your footfall.

Food & Service fine but the experience was marred by your policy of not running a tab despite offering to leave a credit card. This made things difficult when having a lunch with 6 individuals.

Unfortunately, due to a recent increase in unfaithful customers, we have had to implement this policy, especially during our busier season. This fab little pub is a gem! Gorgeous location, loads of covered and outdoor seating. Outside bar. Food was local and great seafood. beers also. Absolutely go there!

The food here is so delicious, you won't be disappointed. Recommend booking ahead but in summer there's plenty of tables outside. It's such a beautiful spot too looking at the estuary 😊

Lovely day out! Took the Topsham to Turf little wooden ferry boat which was a great start. Lots of families, dogs and bird watchers enjoying the sunshine. Choose to sit outside at wooden benches and tables, under shady trees or in a gazebo. Lovely views of the estuary. Welcoming staff, fast service and great tasting, good value food. Devon at it's best.
