We had a very nice dinner. Service was great our food came out in 15 minutes of ordering. Food was good. Would absolutely return.

The restaurant is well appointed and nicely designed. The food was averaged at best and our server while nice and pleasant, seemed a bit inexperienced. Overall, it’s a nice place maybe a little bit pricey for what you get.

Had Linguine and clam sauce it was delicious! So glad it’s back on the menu.

While I can only give 5 stars to service, I can share that Trevor- our waiter - would receive a 10 star rating from us. Full story is we arrived early to have an opportunity to enjoy a birthday drink up on the rooftop deck. As many times as we’ve been to the Tavern, there never seemed to be an opening upstairs. This time we scored the outdoor end table and boy did it not disappoint. So much so that we asked Trevor if he could arrange with downstairs to switch our reservation placement. We were able to enjoy our meal right were we landed, complete with a campus view and a bell tower chimes. A perfect setting for a birthday meal. Trevor went over the top to make sure we had a very positive experience. He even found a beautiful decanter for our Duckhorn Cabernet choice. We ordered the escargot - it’s now sans shell- which seems so much easier for the patrons - thank you! The pasta dishes were excellent and the Super Food Salad was so delicious! Trevor knows I’ll be looking for him each time we stay in Happy Valley and patronize The Tavern ( lived in the old back building apartments in the 80’s paying Pat my monthly rent), as I personally know he helps make a very good Tavern experience even better. Simply put- he’s the best!

The food was outstanding with vegan options and the ambiance was lovely. Super nice waiter!

Ben, our server was fantastic. I had the new Scallop dish with apples and mashed purple potatoes. The scallops with the crisp apple slices were a hit. The mashed potatoes didn't quite make for a unified dish.

We’ve eaten here several times since my son has attended PSU. Since the renovations, everything has been fantastic. The food has been delicious. We shared the oysters Rockefeller and escargot for appetizers. My son loves the Osso Bucco and has gotten it every time we go. My husband enjoyed his steak & I had their wonderful salmon dish. Our waitress Hope was attentive and pleasant. The location couldn’t be more convenient to campus. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our meal but were seated in a small room with a large party so it was quite noisy. Likely would have enjoyed a different table. Our only regret was the carrot cake — it was very dry. We got 2 for the table and both were very dry and crumbly, which was disappointing. We surmised that they were previously frozen. Our server was lovely, food came out promptly. It’s a fine place to go.
