The Tartan Fox by Adam Handling

Welcome to our British restaurant and pub, with gardens, in the picturesque countryside of Cornwall, between Truro and Newquay. We offer sustainable British pub food, with a luxury approach. It’s a simple offering but really showcases the best of produce from in and around Cornwall. Our Sunday lunch is perfect to come and enjoy with your friends and family (and your dogs are more than welcome too!).

Such a lovely welcoming environment, staff very friendly, warm and cosy inside on a cold wet evening. Loved the music playing outside as you approached the pub. The food was some of the best we have sampled in a while, will be back soon and would highly recommend.

Our second visit to the tartan fox, amazing food and service. We really wanted to try the Sunday roast menu and we weren’t disappointed! Definitely up there with one of our favourites in Cornwall. We will definitely be returning as frequently as we can!

Amazing food as you would from an Adam Handling team. Possibly the best Sunday lunch ever!!!! Slight mix up with drinks but the other than that service was excellent.

Superlative staff and so very friendly and attentive. The food was good - best food we’ve had in Cornwall. We live 15 min away and will definitely come again. A quality experience (and a private celebration) that we both enjoyed. Thank you.

Superb welcome from the team and lovely insights into the building itself. My fussy OH just came along to humour me but he enjoyed the cheese doughnuts and the burger. I had the crab cocktail and the seafood macaroni, both of which were simply beautiful. All topped off with generous and delicous cheeseboard.To top it off the staff were super lovely to our pooch! All round fantastic!

Second visit so we could feed our desire for the tomahawk and desserts after having the delicious small plates on first visit. Neither disappointed. Steak was perfectly cooked and buttery melting with a perfectly seasoned flamed crust. Chocolate and cherries and treacle tart were rich and indulgent. As always first class front of house.

Fantastic little gem tucked away off the beaten track. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and excellent service. Surprisingly great value for money for one of the top chefs. We will be back!

We were so excited about our visit. On arrival we were showed to a side room table. There only 3 of us as our two adult children had returned to Uni. No ambience, and there were tables available in the main restaurant. A little disappointing. The service was good, staff friendly. We ordered the crab cocktail, served in a crab shell. I can honestly say that the food itself would have filled 3/4 of an egg cup, beautiful flavours but the amount of crab for £15 (a tsp at best) was shocking! The roast was delicious, we had pork and beef. Beautiful gravy. We asked for extra gravy which came quickly. We were asked to leave our table due to a birthday celebration which kind of finished off our experience the same way it had started; disappointing. We had 1 dessert and 1 small cheeseboard. We had 2 drinks each. Our bill was over £220 for 3 of us. We won’t be returning in a hurry. The food was lovely but not nice enough to warrant the price.
