The Tartan Fox by Adam Handling

Welcome to our British restaurant and pub, with gardens, in the picturesque countryside of Cornwall, between Truro and Newquay. We offer sustainable British pub food, with a luxury approach. It’s a simple offering but really showcases the best of produce from in and around Cornwall. Our Sunday lunch is perfect to come and enjoy with your friends and family (and your dogs are more than welcome too!).

Great food, slightly high prices considering we had to buy sides for a main meal to actually make it a dish. We did however, find it very cold in the pub, especially having to have the door open to help ventilate whilst the fireplace was on.

We had Sunday lunch for our wedding anniversary yesterday and can honestly say it was just wonderful … we always loved the pub when it was the Fox’s revenge as it has always had a lovely friendly atmosphere and this remains under its new owner … the menu was varied and interesting and catered for my son and myself with our various allergies … the staff were so helpful and kind with this … the food was just beautiful it was gorgeous to eat and was presented immaculately… the staff service was outstanding friendly and attentive knowledgable they were wonderful … the atmosphere remains calm friendly and so welcoming even the diners around us were lovely especially as we had our littlest dog with us who was in a particularly gobby mood … the rest of dogs dining were far more well mannered … am looking forward to returning in February for my birthday… cannot recommend the Tartan Fox highly enough

This dining experience was really good , the service great friendly and staff are there if you need advise , the food flavours and presentation first class , we have a son who is a very good chef , so we understand food and its flavours, so we can be a little picky , highly recommended to anyone who loves food . Food was amazing, staff were friendly and helpful, settings are lovely. We just felt that the food was quite expensive and portion sizes small, so small that you need to order sides to be full from a main course alone.

The food had lost it's edge from a previous visit. Lots of micro Herbs and heavy pasta stuck together. The Ragu was not so great just not beefey enough for Ox Cheek just more tomato. The service was very hurried 3 course in 1.15hr.. yes we could have asked it to be slower but I think the kitchen dictated times.. I certainly would say I would go back but not in a rush like the staff trying to clear our plates as we lay our cutlery to pause with food on the plate and a couple of mouthfuls to finish enjoying our conversation. Thank you for our anniversary card.

Amazing, high quality, seasonal menu. The food was fantastic and the service friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Lovely extra touches for my husband’s birthday. We will be eating here again.

Overall enjoyed the evening and the food. My main observation was that if anything service felt slightly rushed through the meal

The food was really terrific - with the stand out course being the turbot. In credible flavours all beautifully cooked. The service was also excellent- really well informed staff who were absolutely aware of their customers and their needs without being intrusive. We will definitely be returning.
