Established in 1985, and located on Raglan Street, just off Princess Square in the heart of Harrogate, The Tannin Level is one of Harrogate's best loved and most renowned restaurants. Known for its wines (its name is a wine term after all!) as well as its food, it has garnered an enviable reputation amongst the towns sophisticated 'foodies'. The Tannin Level has a certain style and an unmistakable elegance, and its many original features combine to create the unique Tannin Level ambience.
The food is modern British with a Tannin Level twist, utilising only the very best seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. As you might expect, all our food is freshly prepared by our chefs, which also means that if you have any special requirements, we can usually oblige. We look forward to welcoming you to the Tannin Level!

The oysters were outstanding and both the cod and the guinea fowl very good indeed. The staff were pleasant as was the atmosphere. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

Lovely food , shame the staff were getting ready for the next day at 8.30 in a Friday evening, which spoilt the ambience slightly . Other than great it’s a great place

As ever, a wonderful dining experience at the Tannin Level. The crab starters were exquisite followed by the Venison and the Market day fish. I'm not normally a sweet man, but the milk and honey dessert was wonderful. Sam and his team provided excellent service throughout our evening and made us feel very welcome. Always a wonderful ambience at the Tannin level - a real gem of a restaurant in Harrogate.

The staff explained that they were short staffed and there would be a delay. This was accurate and they came several times to apologise This was the only negative and we will be back to a great restaurant

Despite a bit of a long wait for our meal the food was delicious and well worth waiting for, the staff were all very polite and attentive. We had the lunchtime menu which is really good value for money. A lovely relaxing lunch which I thoroughly recommend.

The restaurant was very busy therefore long waits for each course to be served. Seated at 7.45, drinks 10 mins later, first course , 15 to 20 mins later, main course 3 mins to 9. That’s an hour and 10 minutes after we arrived. Food was good though.

Never had a bad meal at The Tannin Level and been eating there for years but the menu is smaller than it was and no ‘Specials’ on the board as has always been previously.

Great meal lovely service staff were friendly the male waiter had a great sense of humour . Really enjoyed the evening. Just one issue No alternative milk for coffee at the end of the evening.
