Established in 1985, and located on Raglan Street, just off Princess Square in the heart of Harrogate, The Tannin Level is one of Harrogate's best loved and most renowned restaurants. Known for its wines (its name is a wine term after all!) as well as its food, it has garnered an enviable reputation amongst the towns sophisticated 'foodies'. The Tannin Level has a certain style and an unmistakable elegance, and its many original features combine to create the unique Tannin Level ambience.
The food is modern British with a Tannin Level twist, utilising only the very best seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. As you might expect, all our food is freshly prepared by our chefs, which also means that if you have any special requirements, we can usually oblige. We look forward to welcoming you to the Tannin Level!

First time visiting The Tannin Level having been recommended by a colleague. Wonderful food, great service and would highly recommend to others. We arrived and were the only ones sat in the area we were put in so the ambience was a little quiet but soon it got busier and provided a nice atmosphere. I recommend the Blood Orange Pavlova which was new to the menu! Food was excellent and I will definitely return. Only bit of feedback is the seating could do with some additional cushioning but overall a brilliant restaurant!

Great intimate feeling restaurants with attentive service and good food. lamb shank was great !

We loved last evening. Everything from food to service to atmosphere was perfect. Would definitely recommend Tannin Level and the Early Bird Menu was excellent.

A lovely restaurant in a relaxed environment. The food was outstanding along with an extensive wine list. The service was absolutely first class from the moment you entered. Will definitely visit again to try more of the delicious presented food.

Excellent service particularly by Matthew, a very friendly and helpful young waiter who had a bit of banter! The food was good value ( early doors menu ) and the four of us really enjoyed our starters - the pate and the fishcake. The main course was slightly disappointing as the chunky chips with the fish were undercooked and the chicken was a bit overcooked and therefore a bit tough . The chefs we understand, were under a considerable amount of pressure trying to get food out to a table of 14 which may account for the quality of the food being less than is usually the case when we’ve been before . The ambience was very pleasant and we enjoyed our get together in this delightful venue .

We’ve been coming here for many years. We often have the Early Bird which we find extremely good value. The little embellishments and some of the ingredients are nice touches considering the price point. So nice, too, to see quality and not quantity on the plate.The staff are always friendly. So lovely to have this independent, in Harrogate, which has so many chains, which we avoid, having tried some of them, in the past, including some that, hardly surprisingly, closed. We hope Tannin Level continues to thrive in these difficult times for small businesses, and shall continue to support them.

Great place to eat lunch or dinner the staff are amazing nothing to much trouble. One of the best Sunday Roasts in Harrogate.
