The Sword Inn Hand is a 14th Century Free House with guest rooms nestled in the beautiful rural Hertfordshire village of Westmill, a mile south of the market town of Buntingford. With bar, dining room, mature landscaped gardens and charming country inspired guest rooms, it is the perfect countryside retreat for drinking, dining and relaxing. Seasonal produce is delivered to us daily by our fantastic local suppliers, and we pride ourselves on serving delicious fine food and traditional ales. Our friendly yet professional customer service and warm, relaxing atmosphere inspires our lovely customers to return week after week, and welcomes new visitors from far and wide. Owner, Jeremy Lee and his fantastic team look forward to making your visit a special one to remember.

The venue is excellent and service was good. The food was very good. The negative being there was a shrilling which damped our outing and enjoyment. In future would like to request a table in the bar area rather than the back.

Great food, friendly and efficient service and staff, good atmosphere apart from being seated right next to bar with drinkers standing with their bums in our faces and talking g very loudly! Everything else perfect. Wine good, food excellent and the best espresso I’ve had in a long time, well done, loved it, will return!

Excellent dining experience. Great choice of food, expertly cooked and presented. Excellent professional service, a good choice of ales lovely embieance and ample parking. Great value for money. The Sword in Hand was a great find.

The food ordered was very good but we had to send back the vegetables as they were not cooked enough. Unfortunately they weren’t much better 2nd time around this spoiled what would have been a very good meal.

Good menu and wine list, promptly served. The ingredients were excellent and mainly from local sources. The pub is attractive with cosy spaces.
