The Sword Inn Hand is a 14th Century Free House with guest rooms nestled in the beautiful rural Hertfordshire village of Westmill, a mile south of the market town of Buntingford. With bar, dining room, mature landscaped gardens and charming country inspired guest rooms, it is the perfect countryside retreat for drinking, dining and relaxing. Seasonal produce is delivered to us daily by our fantastic local suppliers, and we pride ourselves on serving delicious fine food and traditional ales. Our friendly yet professional customer service and warm, relaxing atmosphere inspires our lovely customers to return week after week, and welcomes new visitors from far and wide. Owner, Jeremy Lee and his fantastic team look forward to making your visit a special one to remember.

As always there was a very friendly welcome from the staff and we were seated in the small side room. We ordered the calves liver with bubble and squeek. It was delicious, the liver melting in the mouth. The desserts (Eton mess and creme brulee) did not disappoint either. Our fellow diners were quite loud and at times it was difficult to hear our own conversations but when they began eating the noise was less obtrusive. The staff were attentive but did not hustle us to order or finish our courses. I can thoroughly recommend a visit.

Went there for my birthday. When you book online they ask if it for a special occasion or birthday, anniversary. They was a birthday card on the table when we sat down. A very nice touch. Service was great, as was the food. That’s why I gave it 5 stars across the board. Considering it was a Monday night it was busy, and had a nice buzz. Would recommend this to anyone. We will be back. Not the cheapest, but worth every penny.

We arrived early for our meal so enjoyed a couple of drinks. Good selection of drinks and bar snacks and friendly efficient services from the bar staff. Our table was ready early and we sat in another area which had fairy lights and a lovely atmosphere. There was a great selection of starters and meals so it was hard to choose. The food was excellent and service was well timed and friendly. We all had a lovely evening celebrating the evening before my sons wedding. Thank you Sword Inn Hand.

A lovely setting for indoor and outdoor eating, extensive menu of meals and desserts, recently extended car park to make sure there is ample parking too.

Excellent lunch in this lovely village pub. Very busy for a Tuesday lunchtime - booking ahead very much advisable.

We went on recommendation from friends and family and were not disappointed! Food was of a very high standard and the staff were amazing! Will return!

Food was lovely but it's the third time eating there and each time the chips were medium warmth and some not cooked properly. I did mention it on the way out. I'll go again but will remind them to cook chips better. Also Pepsi was flat but they changed it to bottle drink.

Food was really tasty, staff were really friendly. Only downside was that the bar area near the restaurant was quite noisy which made it a little challenging to enjoy conversation over dinner.
