An award-winning village pub, The Swan sits at the heart of the picture-perfect village of Southrop. Part of Thyme, an historic Cotswold estate, the menus celebrate the ingredients and flavours of the farm and kitchen garden, as well as using ingredients carefully sourced from local suppliers.

Locally distinct brews, wines and non-alcoholic drinks lead to an interesting drinks menu, with wines available by the glass. Our seasonal table menu ensures a country pub feel which has a good choice of simple, rustic dishes as well as your pub classic dishes.

Just a short stroll from Thyme, The Swan sits at the heart of the village of Southrop adjacent to the green. The Swan is characterised by low-slung ceilings, roaring fires and a spacious garden room. The higgledy-piggledy wooden furniture combined with bright stripes and Bertioli fabrics make the perfect setting for cosy feasting and simple merry-making.

Steak was fatty and gristly so sent back, new one was good. Chicken and pheasant pie extremely dry, no sauce at all Chips were so over cooked they were too hard to eat

The Swan pub quiz with Jerry Hibbert was such a lovely occasion. A great range of questions, a wonderful warm, cosy atmosphere and the chicken & pheasant pie was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely go again!

This is worth the stop in beautiful Cotswolds area. Great warm vibe. Very cool staff. And the food was exceptional. Do not miss it!

Lovely old pub but the menu was limited and expensive and the food was decent but nothing really special. There are better experiences at other nearby pubs and restaurants.

Food was absolutely top notch. Wife and I had a lovely rib-eye cooked perfectly. Amazing fries and really good starter. Staff were attentive and ambience was good. Will definitely be back!

We had wanted to try the Swan for ages as I used to love it years ago and had high expectations. We could only book an early or late table so we booked 6.15, earlier than I’d ideally want but ok. We were shown through to a cold, empty back room where the walls around our table were blank (just nails etc where pictures had been) got our drinks and placed our order. Because it was empty at that stage we were very much aware of how noisy the bar was. The rest of the room then filled up and people got their starters and some even their mains before our waitress came to say that we hadn’t been forgotten! (In fact we had). The food was tasty but fairly minimalistic. Our starters were surprisingly simple. Mine was a piece of sour dough with whipped ricotta, a small fig (not really roasted) and a drizzle of honey and my husband’s pate, which was good, looked like it had been scooped with a sorbet scoop and presented with a piece of toast and finely chopped beetroot, which, as it did not taste pickled, he did not eat. I had the ox cheek pie. It looked good but contained nothing but pieces of, albeit melt in the mouth, ox cheek in a tasty but very thin jus. One very thin layer of pastry on the top pretty much disappeared. Excellent mash. Buttered greens side was good. The menu is not extensive but that’s not uncommon to enable a real focus on great food and service. The flavour was good but the dishes were disappointing, far less finessed than we would expect from a place of this price or reputation. Having asked to see the dessert menu, after a few minutes, when she came back to clear our side dish bowls, our same waitress asked us again if we wanted anything else and I reminded her we were waiting for her to bring the dessert menu. We didn’t bother. She did comp our coffees because our starters had got lost in the system. Overall, with so much competition in this area, nothing about the evening marked The Swan out as special. We are unlikely to return.

We have been to the Swan a few times and the food is much improved from our previous visits. The menu is not extensive but it is expensive! One starter shared, a main course each and chips, a pint of cider and a bottle of water was £92. BUT the food was really tasty and well prepared, not your usual pub-grub. Actually my husband said the pint of cider was really very reasonably priced so why not drop in for a pint and check it out.
