An award-winning village pub, The Swan sits at the heart of the picture-perfect village of Southrop. Part of Thyme, an historic Cotswold estate, the menus celebrate the ingredients and flavours of the farm and kitchen garden, as well as using ingredients carefully sourced from local suppliers.

Locally distinct brews, wines and non-alcoholic drinks lead to an interesting drinks menu, with wines available by the glass. Our seasonal table menu ensures a country pub feel which has a good choice of simple, rustic dishes as well as your pub classic dishes.

Just a short stroll from Thyme, The Swan sits at the heart of the village of Southrop adjacent to the green. The Swan is characterised by low-slung ceilings, roaring fires and a spacious garden room. The higgledy-piggledy wooden furniture combined with bright stripes and Bertioli fabrics make the perfect setting for cosy feasting and simple merry-making.

The food was delicious, the staff friendly and helpful and the pub itself is charming. We had a wonderful time.

The team are always positive and on point. Food was tremendous; sole sauce vierge, roast cod and pork chop. Happy punters. Thanks again.

Had the Sunday roast for £25 each. Cold plates, two very thin slices of meat (more like a starter), runny and weak gravy and stale Yorkshire pudding. The only good thing were the roast potatoes and the veggies. Manager apologized and took drinks off our bill, but I felt being cheated and wouldn’t go back. Such a shame, this would be a nice place for meals if they performed better

Lovely food, but quite expensive - £60 pp for a two course meal, glass of bubbly and one glass of wine. Pub is well refurbished and in a lovely location. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The server, Paula, was knowledgable, professional and pleasant. The food was excellent including the dessert. The ambience suffered due to a loud guest whose conversation was heard by all. We will definitely come back.

This place came highly recommended and apparently has a high reputation. I have no idea why. Table was highly uncomfortable impossible for 4 people to sit comfortably round. Nothing more than an average pub and there are many in the Cotswolds that we would visit before this one. Food was nice but nothing special. A waste of a bank holiday lunch which we could have spent anywhere.

Have visited The Swan numerous times over the years but this was the first time, following closure and reopening, that we have come for Sunday lunch, and the last! The omens weren't good when, having arrived on time, no table was available. The staff quickly and hurriedly prepared a table out the back. Unfortunately we were sat at a table intended for two tucked away in a corner despite the fact that I had booked for 3. Eventually our orders for food and drink were taken. After a considerable wait, the drinks finally arrived and they were almost as ordered but not quite. However, it wasn't worth trying to get things changed. The first course arrived after a further prolonged wait. To be fair, the 2 starters (2 of us had the asparagus) were fine as were the deserts. nothing extraordinary with either but edible nonetheless. The problem was with the mains. @ of us has roast pork and my wife had cod served on an olive oil creamed mash. The mash had that much oil in it that it had the consistency of a puree. The 2 roast porks were much worse. The pork itself had been overcooked initially I suspect before being reheated during service as was as dry and tasteless as I've ever experienced. The roast potatoes were comical. They were so hard it was a challenge to cut into them. The technique adopted was to try and find a weak spot and insert your fork as far as possible being attempting to cut it with your knife. Much easier said than done. Was it worth the effort ..... no! Again roasted much earlier and then reheated for service resulting in them being way overcooked. There are many pubs serving excellent Sunday lunches in the surrounding area. I would strongly recommend that customers opt fro one of them rather than The Swan. Huge disappointment and won't be returning I'm afraid.
