Join us every Thursday for our Chef's 5-course tasting menu, featuring a blend of signature dishes from our current menu and exciting previews of upcoming items. The price is $65 per person, and all members of a party must participate in the tasting menu.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at The Study. Leo was our wonderful server who pointed us in all the right directions. We celebrated my husband’s birthday here and he made it feel so special. From the drinks, to the appetizers (ceviche & short rib lettuce wraps), to the main courses (curry shrimp, steak and onions, fried octopus (which was phenomenal)), to the desserts (chocolate sampler and tres leche) everything was so so sooo wonderful. I can’t say enough good things. It was our first time here but it certainly won’t be our last.

Overall experience was very enjoyable; our server Rodney did an excellent job. The chef and others visited the table and ensured we were happy. It was a very nice venue to celebrate our anniversary.

My wife and I dined at The Study yesterday evening, 6 September 2024. Our server, Leo, was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive and every dish we had was excellent. The Study is a small, quiet restaurant and I highly recommend it if you are seeking an upscale evening out.

We loved our experience at The Study! The food & drinks were unique and executed perfectly. If you aren't going there on a Thursday for the Chef's Menu, you are truly missing out! The service was excellent--the perfect balance of being attentive, sharing great recommendations, but not hovering. The aesthetic is perfect--small, cozy, with a little bit of whimsy and a killer piano player whose voice has a hint of John Legend. We will definitely be visiting The Study every time we return to the DC area!

We had such a lovely time at the restaurant. I wish I remembered the name of our server, but he was outstanding!

Chef Tomas Chavarria is brilliant! The food is delicious and carefully curated. Highly recommend the Costa Rican Ceviche. You will not be disappointed. The sweet plantain empanada is also yummy. For the main courses we had the fresh catch Marifuseca and the chicken satay. The fish was cooked perfectly in a banana leaf. For dessert, highly recommend tres leches and the panela caramel tart. What made this meal even better was our superb waiter, Jorrel! He was attentive and worked with the bartender to carefully craft two mocktails. Get in before this place has a waitlist. The Study is a hidden gem!

One of the best meals I’ve ever had and definitely the best in Alexandria in a long time. Delicious seafood (order the ceviche and/or the octopus!) and a perfectly cooked playful nod to steak and onions. Cocktails were out of this world; if you like dark liquor, get the Goosebumps or the Beautiful Little Fool. Flan is a wonderful finisher for dessert. Special shoutout to Rodney who took care of us and Chef AJ in the kitchen. They both explained each item with care and clear joy. Can’t recommend this spot enough. A hidden gem right off King Street.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! We had a wonderful evening at the Study for drinks and dinner. From the cocktails, to the butters for the bread (wow!) through the apps and entrées, everything was perfect. The Study is a new standard bearer for Old Town that left along with Restaurant Eve.
