Leonard Wilfred Davies, born 19 December 1906, started a butcher's dynasty now four generations old. His butchers typical cheeky sense of humour now lives on through his grandchildren along with his knowledge of butchery.

In 1997 Leonard’s grandson Richard opened The Station Inn, which quickly generated a great reputation for quality steak. With Richard’s son, Ben’s passion and expertise as Head Chef and Butcher, The Station’s dining experience is a true reflection of the families deep passion for serving amazing steak.

20 years on from opening The Station a major upgrade has taken place, which at its core aims to celebrate the families heritage and knowledge of meat. In order to identify your exact preferences the chefs help you choose the best cut of beef to cook for dinner. It makes for an unforgettable ‘butchery and dining’ experience.

                      We have eaten here before,but on Saturday it was the worst meal we’d ever had. Fillet Steak for both of us , was very tough & chewy, not very hot ., my Sons was very bloody although medium cooked was ordered. The mushrooms were either frozen or tinned. Not what you expect for expensive dish. We were thoroughly disappointed, as been looking forward to it. Definitely not , the previous standard. I have been a Chef all my working life , so know what I’m talking about. Am even doubtful it was “fillet”. Unfortunately we will not be returning in the future. Very sadly.Staff were very pleasant, & we didn’t complain at the time just left without a Dessert., with a £70 bill.

                      Very friendly staff. They kept the carvery open for us as our booking was just out of the time it is usually served, I didn’t know this when I booked but there was no issue at all. Did not disappoint, plenty of choice and nice and hot food!

                      Really nice layout and ambiance in The Station Inn and we’d definitely go back. Food was good and a nice variety (other than the peas which had an odd taste and we mentioned this) - puddings were great. The only disappointment was when we popped back later for some tea after a walk, the teapots were half full which we thought was a tad stingy. All in all though a nice experience and we’d go back.

                      This is the third time we have visited the Station Inn on a Friday night for their Butcher's Night. We haven't been disappointed and would recommend a visit to anyone
