The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

If its a night out with friends, an intimate dinner for two, or just something extraordinary like sitting at our chefs table, We take each day as a new challenge to provide something amazing. It’s a bold statement and that’s why we make it with The Standard.

This is an exclusive dining event. The Chef's table is a 7-course blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to ho it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. I had the duck breast and it was out of this world. I thought the scallion and ginger “pancake” was quite tough and didn’t really add to the dish but otherwise, everything was great. Great cocktails too

Second time eating here. Just as awesome as the first. Presentation is excellent, flavour combinations are interesting and highly enjoyable. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Love the ambience; has a bit of a club vibe without being over the top. A stellar selection of small plates and full entrees, allows you to mix, match and share. This is my new favourite restaurant.

Celebrated our anniversary there and had an amazing experience. Food was phenomenal, our server Ryan was friendly and attentive. We will be back for sure.

Excellent spot. The salmon was delicious and the cookies were the best we’ve ever had. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!

Excellent dinner at Standard. We will definitely be back. As a foursome, we had the burger, the short ribs and the salmon. All meals were excellent. We tried the arancini, bread and calamari appetizers and they were also all excellent. Their cocktail menu is extensive and fun. Worth checking it out!

Excellent venue and service. Main issue was the Short Rib Dish. Ribs didn't have the best flavour/texture. Also the rice patty they were served on much too dense and large. For dessert we shared the cookies- great cookies but needed something with them to make them memorable, like an ice cream maybe.

The Standard was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! The restaurant is beautiful, the staff amazing but the food.. wow! We tried almost every small plate and not a single one disappointed. If you are on the fence about trying this restaurant do not hesitate.
