The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

If its a night out with friends, an intimate dinner for two, or just something extraordinary like sitting at our chefs table, We take each day as a new challenge to provide something amazing. It’s a bold statement and that’s why we make it with The Standard.

The Chef's table is a 7-course, exclusive blind Tasting Menu, composed of the best of the season. These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to how it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride. Elevate your experience with pairings from our reserve wine list or a mixology pairing form our bar team. Please note that we are unable to accommodate vegetarian, dairy/egg allergies, seafood allergies or aversions to raw meat/seafood. If there are any concerns, please reach out before booking a reservation.

Join us for an exclusive, one night only event celebrating Bavarian brewing along side a unique & refined 5 course chefs tasting menu unlike anything you have seen before. Hosted as a collaboration between The Standard & Erdinger Weißbräu, Bavaria's largest Weissbier brewery whos brewing traditions date back 139 years to 1886. Enjoy an evening hosted by not only our Chef but also joining us will be Dirk Von Kries and a special appearance by Andreas Kahrs, both direct from the Erdinger Brewery in Bavaria who is making a special trip for the event . The event will not only consist of our 5 course tasting menu but will also include a welcome reception and all pairings for the evening. Menu can be viewed on our website - Proost!

The atmosphere is beautiful, love the open kitchen where you can see them prepare the food. The brunches are just as delicious as the dinners. Definitely need reservations to guarantee a spot or you may be disappointed as they are a busy popular spot.

Absolutely loved our early Valentine’s dinner at The Standard! Our server Abby was super knowledgeable of the menu, funny, had amazing recommendations for my husband the vegan and I the carnivore. Already looking for a night to go back! The Wagyu Tartar was delicious!! 10/10

Took my dad for brunch to celebrate his 60th birthday. Great food, service and they provided a birthday discount on the bill, greatly appreciated! The lemon and honey panna cotta was delicious! We will be back!

We ordered oysters & prosecco to start both were very good. For our main we ordered the short rib, we would highly recommend it. The rib was delicious & tender, the veggies were crunchie and the potatoes were creamy & very flavourful. We did not order dessert but the ladies beside us did and they said they were "out of this world." We will go back

Great atmosphere, staff were wonderful and food was delicious. I had the French toast and ginger/pineapple mimosa. So good!

This evening was our first time at The Standard. We have been fairly regular patrons of this ownership's other incredible outlets, Undefined & Hambrgr. Although our first time at the newest offering in Downtown Hamilton, it certainly won't be our last! An excellent & varied menu, curated wine list, craft cocktails, and a wide selection of well known & unique beers are all delivered with second to none service! We decided on the roasted mushroom parfait & chili crunch calamari to start. For mains we had the braised beef short rib & the 16oz rib eye pepper steak. The food couldn't have been better. Thank you for a lovely evening, we look forward to visiting again very soon.

Inviting, clean and warm. Good buzz. Hanger steak was perfectly cooked (chef suggested med rare) with frites and an egg. Squash and eggs benny very tasty. To die for biscuits, haven’t had in ages. Great, unexpected selection of beer (wine menu looked good, too). Espresso A. w ice cream hit the spot. Friendly, attentive service. Will def be back (oh, great central location in downtown Hamilton).

Great looking and trendy restaurant. Cocktails and salad were good, however Cobb salad could of used more dressing. Main dishes were the downfall on this visit. The corn beef hash with poached eggs was served to us at room temperature and eggs were served very runny however we had requested them medium soft. The thick piece of corn beef chewy and cold. The second dish was the short rib eggs benefit which was tasty however the requested cook on the eggs was a soft poach however they were over cooked and were like hard boiled eggs. With so many great brunch options in hamilton I’m not sure that we would go back.

An amazing experience. It was one of the best dinners we have had out in years. We sat at the Chefs table and enjoyed the seven course tasting menu. Everything was to perfection. The service and kitchen staff added to the experience by explaining every course and providing impeccable service.
