The Standard. One of Hamilton's most revered restaurants, has laid down its roots on James St N. With our everchanging menu, seasonal & local inspiration and forward approach to dining, our commitment to excellence shows in everything we do. We strive to provide a memorable experience each day, it is just what we love to do.

From our in house butchery or cooking over charcoal, to working with local suppliers in our community We challenge the way we all think about Food & Drink.

If its a night out with friends, an intimate dinner for two, or just something extraordinary like sitting at our chefs table, We take each day as a new challenge to provide something amazing. It’s a bold statement and that’s why we make it with The Standard.

These are ring side seats right in front of the Kitchen where you will get to see and experience the stress, pressure and rapid fire execution of how a fast-paced restaurant engine runs. This is not for the faint-hearted, your experience will give you a front row seat to ho it all goes down. Strap in, it's going to be a hell of a ride.     Nice place, open kitchen but it was quite warm. Service was good, but honestly slow. Apps and dessert came quickly but entrees slow. Food and drinks were pricey and I had the lamb which was overcooked to a medium well to a well done.Not what I expected and since it took so long I ate it. Overall decent but the wait, room temperature and price I would say it was OKAY.

    The service was excellent and food was delicious! The whipped ricotta and prawn pork belly dumplings were such tasty appetizers. The steak was also a delicious main.

    Best meal we've had in a long time, we had the calamari and shishito peppers to start, then the steak and risotto for mains followed by tiramisu for dessert. Overall the atmosphere was welcoming, open concept kitchen and space. Service was wonderful, friendly, helpful and gave us great recommendations. We'll be back for sure, we're still talking about what a lovely dinner it was.

    Beautiful space, with a really lovely server and staff. We were cared for attentively, and the atmosphere was exquisite. The food was delicious, well-plated, and playful and innovative in its design -- I would return on a date, with family, or by myself!

    Right when we got to the restuatant we were told that there was another reservation at 9 pm (we came in at 7) which was no problem until our server was no where to be found and we did not order our apps/drinks until 7:30. The appetizers were incredibly salty and again, our server was nowhere to be found to order another round of drinks
