Located in the leafy area of Bowdon, The Stamford is a modern interpretation of pubs from a bygone era; a social space enjoyed by the local community and visitors alike, serving the wider Altrincham, Hale and Cheshire area.

We offer a fresh food a la carte menu alongside lunch specials throughout the pub and a crowd-pleasing set-priced menu on a Sunday, including our famous mixed meat roasts. Whether a quick pint or bite after work, a romantic meal for two, a special celebration, or a few hours sat in our sunshine garden at the front, we have space
to accommodate all in this community-focused pub made with love.

    Usually love the Stamford but this time was a real disappointment. 20 mins to get drinks, 55 mins for food. Food came and the side we ordered was incorrectly subsidised removing roast potatoes from main. Service was really poor

    Booked for dinner before the Euros Final only to discover when we arrived they were only serving junk food (sausage rolls, pigs in a blankets, chips, ....). A quick message by text or via OpenTable to alert us of the change of menu would have allowed us to eat elsewhere before watching the match.

    Party of 9 for a birthday - booked for 7pm on a Sunday online via OpenTable, only to be told on arrival that the kitchen closes at 7 which was a bit weird as I'm pretty sure OpenTable offered me later times as well. Despite this, the staff did everything they could to accommodate us and were very attentive during our meals, which were all lovely. Another quirk of our 7pm Sunday booking was that it coincided with quiz night - which was quite noisy, but we didn't mind and actually quite enjoyed guessing the questions that we could hear!

    Great food and atmosphere. We had to wait a while for condiments but otherwise good.

    Food and service both great but I do feel that £40 for a fillet steak is outrageously expensive for a pub meal

    We came for Sunday lunch having seen the offering on the website of 2 courses for £24. When we got the bill this was not the case, the website is out of date so our meal for a family of 4 was more than expected. Having said that the food and service were good.

    Excellent Sunday lunch. Great quality food and drinks, fabulous service from our server, Grace who always has a smile on her face and is super professional. We can't wait to return!!!
