Built in 1839 on an old archery range, this pub quickly became a cherished neighbourhood meeting spot and was frequented by notable locals throughout its history, from Winston Churchill to Tony Blair.

To honour the historical roots of the establishment, offer our take on the quintessential British gastro pub. We aim to be London's only gastro pub sourcing all of our ingredients from the British Isles, and where that is not possible, we look to source ingredients from countries and territories with close links to Britain, such as our lemons from Gibraltar. Our Head Chef champions British produce through culinary favourites such as steak, fish pie, and the classic treacle pudding.Our unique drinks & wine list is also fully sourced from sustainable vineyards, breweries and distilleries across Britain

                                            The food was average for the price and wasn’t impressed.Not even a quater full but the service was poor.Would not recommend.Tim.

                                            Small portions with none of the niceties e.g there was no bread and butter served with the prawn cocktail. There was no gravy with the pie. The cheese board was not served at room temperature but cold straight from the fridge. Service was friendly until we opted not to pay the entire 12.5% suggested service charge but paid nearer 10%.

                                            I recently dined at the Stablehand and was thoroughly impressed. The service was prompt, attentive, and friendly. The food was incredibly flavourful, well presented and perfectly cooked. The ambience was perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. Highly recommend.

                                            Had an amazing time at The Stablehand. The service was super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The Macsween’s Haggis Scotch Egg was incredible—crispy, flavourful, and so satisfying. The Bubble & Squeak was just as fantastic, with golden edges and comforting, hearty flavours. Great food, lovely people—can’t wait to go back!

                                            Had a delicious lunch at the Stablehand! Food was amazing, really recommend the scallops. Service was excellent and the wait staff were attentive. Really charming decor, will definitely be returning!

                                            Super friendly welcome. Great little gastro-pub, food was really tasty and loved the playlist! Also discovered a really good English sparkling wine that I'll definitely keep an eye out for and order again.

                                            Food was great and the place was a nice old pub but... The service was terrible. They were friendly and polite but so slow and inattentive. They never checked in and one had to wait and wave to get attention when they walked to another table that often didn't work and needed to be repeated several times to get someone to come over to us. We even had to go up to the bar, after a 15 minute wait to remind them about our drinks order. It was not a super busy evening with only half the tables occupied.

                                            Excellent food in a nice atmosphere. Service was friendly, a little slow but not bad. Really enjoyed the experience, would definitely eat here again!
