Built in 1839 on an old archery range, this pub quickly became a cherished neighbourhood meeting spot and was frequented by notable locals throughout its history, from Winston Churchill to Tony Blair.

To honour the historical roots of the establishment, offer our take on the quintessential British gastro pub. We aim to be London's only gastro pub sourcing all of our ingredients from the British Isles, and where that is not possible, we look to source ingredients from countries and territories with close links to Britain, such as our lemons from Gibraltar. Our Head Chef champions British produce through culinary favourites such as steak, fish pie, and the classic treacle pudding.Our unique drinks & wine list is also fully sourced from sustainable vineyards, breweries and distilleries across Britain

First time in London and our first restaurant experience. It could not have gone better. Will definitely be back.

We enjoyed our Sunday roast overall. Oddly enough, everything in the dishes was delicious except the beef was just okay. Vegetables were fantastic, potatoes were crispy and flavorful, Yorkshire pudding was very good. Even the chicken was very flavorful! But the steak was not tender and did not have much flavor. We also were sat at a small table directly in front of the men’s toilet. A large group of boys kept queuing up for the toilet right behind my seat and no one asked them to move to queue in the hallway. One of them came out and shook his went hands, splashing some drops of water on my boyfriend which promptly ended his desire to finish his meal. I voiced my complaint with our server and she apologized and said they don’t have control over the bookings and just have to “put people in places” but I think the management should not allow that capacity of bookings if they are having to seat people in front of the toilet where there is no place to queue. They took 25% off the bill but it was still quite pricey for what we ordered. I would try somewhere else for Sunday roast.

Great experience! Would highly recommend Sunday Roast here. Leave room for sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

We had a very good time, the food was delicious and the service was perfect. Lovely moment with the horses passing by.

The service was so bad - I had to get up 6 times to order drinks or food. The staff , other than the manager, were simply unaware . To be fair the manager gave us 50% off the bill because of the poor service but we will not be going back there.

Food and ambience was good, nice and quiet but with a cosy atmosphere. Service was lacking but there were only 3 wait staff for a pretty full restaurant. I would come again

Overall food very good. Service a bit slow had to wait 30 mins for a drink when arrived then picked up with a bit of persuasion. Beautiful environment. Would definitely go back.
